ऋग्वेद (मंडल 10)
उ॒षासा॒नक्ता॑ बृह॒ती सु॒पेश॑सा॒ द्यावा॒क्षामा॒ वरु॑णो मि॒त्रो अ॑र्य॒मा । इन्द्रं॑ हुवे म॒रुतः॒ पर्व॑ताँ अ॒प आ॑दि॒त्यान्द्यावा॑पृथि॒वी अ॒पः स्वः॑ ॥ (१)
मैं महान् एवं शोभनरूप वाली उषा व रात्रि और द्यावा-पृथिवी, वरुण, मित्र, अर्यमा, इंद्र मरुद्गण, पर्वतसमूह, जलों, आदित्यों, अंतरिक्ष एवं अन्य देवों को यज्ञ में बुलाता हूं. (१)
I call usha and night and diwa-prithivi, varuna, mitra, aryama, indra marudgana, mountain group, jalon, adityas, space and other gods to the yagna. (1)

द्यौश्च॑ नः पृथि॒वी च॒ प्रचे॑तस ऋ॒ताव॑री रक्षता॒मंह॑सो रि॒षः । मा दु॑र्वि॒दत्रा॒ निरृ॑तिर्न ईशत॒ तद्दे॒वाना॒मवो॑ अ॒द्या वृ॑णीमहे ॥ (२)
शोभन बुद्धि वाली एवं यज्ञ के योग्य द्यावा-पृथिवी हमें हिंसकों एवं पाप से बचावें. बुरी बुद्धि वाली मृत्यु हम पर अधिकार न कर सके. हम आज देवों की उसी रक्षा की याचना करते हैं. (२)
May the brave-minded and worthy of yajna protect us from violent and sin. Death with evil intellects could not take over us. We ask for the same protection of gods today. (2)

विश्व॑स्मान्नो॒ अदि॑तिः पा॒त्वंह॑सो मा॒ता मि॒त्रस्य॒ वरु॑णस्य रे॒वतः॑ । स्व॑र्व॒ज्ज्योति॑रवृ॒कं न॑शीमहि॒ तद्दे॒वाना॒मवो॑ अ॒द्या वृ॑णीमहे ॥ (३)
धन के स्वामी मित्र और वरुण की माता अदिति पाप से हमारी रक्षा करें. हम विनाशरहित ज्योति को पूर्णरूप से शीघ्र प्राप्त करें. देवों से आज हम उसी रक्षा की याचना करते हैं. (३)
May aditi, the master friend of wealth and mother of Varuna, protect us from sin. Let us get the light without destruction at the fullest speed. Today we ask the gods for the same protection. (3)

ग्रावा॒ वद॒न्नप॒ रक्षां॑सि सेधतु दु॒ष्ष्वप्न्यं॒ निरृ॑तिं॒ विश्व॑म॒त्रिण॑म् । आ॒दि॒त्यं शर्म॑ म॒रुता॑मशीमहि॒ तद्दे॒वाना॒मवो॑ अ॒द्या वृ॑णीमहे ॥ (४)
सोमरस निचोड़ने के काम आने वाले दोनों पत्थर शब्द करते हुए राक्षसों को दूर भगावें एवं बुरे सपनों, मृत्यु और सबको खाने वाले राक्षसों को हमसे हटावें. हम आदित्यों एवं मरुतों से संबंधित सुख प्राप्त करें. हम आज देवों की उसी प्रसिद्ध रक्षा की याचना करते हैं. (४)
By using the words of the two stones used to squeeze the somras, drive away the demons and remove from us the evil dreams, the death and the demons that eat everyone. May we get happiness related to adityas and maruts. We ask for the same famous defense of the gods today. (4)

एन्द्रो॑ ब॒र्हिः सीद॑तु॒ पिन्व॑ता॒मिळा॒ बृह॒स्पतिः॒ साम॑भिरृ॒क्वो अ॑र्चतु । सु॒प्र॒के॒तं जी॒वसे॒ मन्म॑ धीमहि॒ तद्दे॒वाना॒मवो॑ अ॒द्या वृ॑णीमहे ॥ (५)
इंद्र भली प्रकार कुश पर बैठें. स्तुतिवचन विशेषरूप से बोले जावें. साममंत्रों द्वारा प्रशंसित बृहस्पति हमारी अभिलाषा पूरी करें. हम जीवन के लिए शोभन ज्ञान एवं धन प्राप्त करें. आज हम देवों से उसी प्रसिद्ध रक्षा की याचना करते हैं. (५)
Indra sit well on kush. Praise be spoken specifically. May Jupiter, acclaimed by the sammantras, fulfill our desire. Let us gain rich knowledge and wealth for life. Today we ask the gods for the same famous defense. (5)

दि॒वि॒स्पृशं॑ य॒ज्ञम॒स्माक॑मश्विना जी॒राध्व॑रं कृणुतं सु॒म्नमि॒ष्टये॑ । प्रा॒चीन॑रश्मि॒माहु॑तं घृ॒तेन॒ तद्दे॒वाना॒मवो॑ अ॒द्या वृ॑णीमहे ॥ (६)
हे अश्चिनीकुमारो! तुम हमारे यज्ञ को स्वर्ग छूने वाला, शीघ्र गतियुक्त व हिंसारहित बनाओ. तुम हमारी अभिलाषापूर्ति के लिए हमें सुख दो तथा घृत द्वारा आहुति दी गई अग्नि को देवों के प्रति अभिमुख बनाओ. आज हम देवों से उसी प्रसिद्ध रक्षा की याचना करते हैं. (६)
O aschinikumaro! You make our yajna heaven-touching, speedy and violence-free. You give us happiness to fulfill our desire and make the agni offered by the abomination oriented to the gods. Today we ask the gods for the same famous defense. (6)

उप॑ ह्वये सु॒हवं॒ मारु॑तं ग॒णं पा॑व॒कमृ॒ष्वं स॒ख्याय॑ श॒म्भुव॑म् । रा॒यस्पोषं॑ सौश्रव॒साय॑ धीमहि॒ तद्दे॒वाना॒मवो॑ अ॒द्या वृ॑णीमहे ॥ (७)
मैं शोभन आह्वान वाले, शुद्धिकर्ता, दर्शनीय, सुखदाता व धन के पोषक मरुद्गण को मित्रता पाने के लिए बुलाता हूं तथा विशेषरूप से अन्न पाने के लिए मैं उनका ध्यान करता हूं. हम आज देवों से विशेष रक्षा की याचना करते हैं. (७)
I call upon the adorned invocation, the purifier, the seer, the seer, the comforter, and the nurturing deserts of wealth to find friendship, and I especially meditate on them to get food. We ask for special protection from the gods today. (7)

अ॒पां पेरुं॑ जी॒वध॑न्यं भरामहे देवा॒व्यं॑ सु॒हव॑मध्वर॒श्रिय॑म् । सु॒र॒श्मिं सोम॑मिन्द्रि॒यं य॑मीमहि॒ तद्दे॒वाना॒मवो॑ अ॒द्या वृ॑णीमहे ॥ (८)
हम जल का पालन करने वाले, जीवों को धन्य करने वाले, देवों को तृप्ति देने वाले, शोभन स्तुति वाले, यज्ञ की शोभा व शोभन दीप्तियुक्त सोम को धारण करते हैं एवं उनसे शक्ति की याचना करते हैं. आज हम देवों से वही प्रसिद्ध रक्षा मांगते हैं. (८)
We wear the som who follows water, who blesses the living beings, who satisfies the gods, those who praise the gods, the splendour of the yagna and the splendor of the lamp and ask them for power. Today we ask the gods for the same famous defense. (8)
