विश्व॑स्मा अ॒ग्निं भुव॑नाय दे॒वा वै॑श्वान॒रं के॒तुमह्ना॑मकृण्वन् । आ यस्त॒तानो॒षसो॑ विभा॒तीरपो॑ ऊर्णोति॒ तमो॑ अ॒र्चिषा॒ यन् ॥ (१२)
देवों ने सारे संसार के कल्याण के लिए वैश्वानर अग्नि को दिनों का ज्ञान कराने वाला बनाया है. अग्नि विशेष-प्रकाश वाली उषाओं को विस्तृत करते हैं एवं जाते समय सारे संसार को अंधकार के समूह में डुबा देते हैं. (१२)
The gods have made the Vaishnavar Agni a provider of knowledge of the days for the welfare of the whole world. Fire expands the special-light ushas and immerses the whole world in a group of darkness while leaving. (12)
