ऋग्वेद (मंडल 10)
ह॒विष्पान्त॑म॒जरं॑ स्व॒र्विदि॑ दिवि॒स्पृश्याहु॑तं॒ जुष्ट॑म॒ग्नौ । तस्य॒ भर्म॑णे॒ भुव॑नाय दे॒वा धर्म॑णे॒ कं स्व॒धया॑ पप्रथन्त ॥ (१)
पीने योग्य, जरारहित एवं देवों का प्रिय सोमरसरूपी हव्य सूर्य को जानने वाले एवं स्वर्गस्थ अग्नि को होम किया जाता है. देवगण सोम उत्पादन पूर्ति और धारण के लिए सुखकर अग्नि को अन्न से बढ़ाते हैं. (१)
Drinkable, uninhabitable and beloved somrass of gods is home to the one who knows the sun and the heavenly agni. Devgan Som increases the agni with food for production, fulfillment and holding. (1)

गी॒र्णं भुव॑नं॒ तम॒साप॑गूळ्हमा॒विः स्व॑रभवज्जा॒ते अ॒ग्नौ । तस्य॑ दे॒वाः पृ॑थि॒वी द्यौरु॒तापोऽर॑णय॒न्नोष॑धीः स॒ख्ये अ॑स्य ॥ (२)
अंधकार द्वारा निगला हुआ एवं अंधकार में छिपा हुआ संसार अग्नि के उत्पन्न होने पर प्रकट होता है. उस अनने के मैत्रीपूर्ण कार्य से देवगण पृथ्वी स्वर्ग, जल एवं ओषधियां-सब प्रस्न होते हैं. (२)
The world, swallowed by darkness and hidden in darkness, appears when agni is created. By the friendly work of that ane, the gods are presented to the earth, heaven, water and herbs. (2)

दे॒वेभि॒र्न्वि॑षि॒तो य॒ज्ञिये॑भिर॒ग्निं स्तो॑षाण्य॒जरं॑ बृ॒हन्त॑म् । यो भा॒नुना॑ पृथि॒वीं द्यामु॒तेमामा॑त॒तान॒ रोद॑सी अ॒न्तरि॑क्षम् ॥ (३)
यज्ञ के योग्य देवों द्वारा शीघ्र प्रेरित मैं जरारहित एवं विशाल अग्नि की स्तुति करता हूं. अग्नि ने अपने तेज से धरती, द्यौ, इनके मध्यभाग एवं आकाश को विस्तृत किया है. (३)
I praise the uninitiated and vast agni, promptly inspired by the deities worthy of yajna. The agni has expanded the earth, the earth, the earth, its middle part and the sky with its brightness. (3)

यो होतासी॑त्प्रथ॒मो दे॒वजु॑ष्टो॒ यं स॒माञ्ज॒न्नाज्ये॑ना वृणा॒नाः । स प॑त॒त्री॑त्व॒रं स्था जग॒द्यच्छ्वा॒त्रम॒ग्निर॑कृणोज्जा॒तवे॑दाः ॥ (४)
जो अग्नि देवों द्वारा सेवित होकर पहले होता बने थे एवं वर के अभिलाषी यजमान जिन्हें घी से सींचते हैं, उन अग्नि ने अपने तेज से पक्षियों गतिशील सांप आदि तथा स्थावरजंगम रूप संसार को शीघ्र ही उत्पन्न किया. (४)
The agni which was served by the gods and made before and the beloved hosts of the bridegroom, who are irrigated with ghee, those agnis with their brightness, the birds, the moving snakes, etc., and the real form of the world, quickly produced the world. (4)

यज्जा॑तवेदो॒ भुव॑नस्य मू॒र्धन्नति॑ष्ठो अग्ने स॒ह रो॑च॒नेन॑ । तं त्वा॑हेम म॒तिभि॑र्गी॒र्भिरु॒क्थैः स य॒ज्ञियो॑ अभवो रोदसि॒प्राः ॥ (५)
हे जातवेद अग्नि! तुम आदित्य के साथ तीनों लोकों के सिर पर स्थित होते हो. हम तुम्हें अर्चनीय स्तुतियों एवं मंत्रं द्वारा प्राप्त करते हैं. तुम यज्ञ के पात्र एवं द्यावा-पृथिवी को पूर्ण करने वाले हो. (५)
O Jativeda Agni! You are located on the heads of all the three lokas with Aditya. We receive you through inspirational hymns and mantras. You are going to complete the vessel of the yajna and the dyava-prithvivi. (5)

मू॒र्धा भु॒वो भ॑वति॒ नक्त॑म॒ग्निस्ततः॒ सूर्यो॑ जायते प्रा॒तरु॒द्यन् । मा॒यामू॒ तु य॒ज्ञिया॑नामे॒तामपो॒ यत्तूर्णि॒श्चर॑ति प्रजा॒नन् ॥ (६)
अग्नि रात के समय सभी प्राणियों के मूर्धारूप बन जाते हैं एवं प्रातः उदय होते हुए सूर्य बन जाते हैं. अग्नि को यज्ञ-संपादक देवों की बुद्धि कहा जाता है एवं वे सबको जानते हुए सब स्थानों में जल्दी-जल्दी चलते हैं. (६)
Fire becomes the idol of all beings at night and becomes the sun in the morning. Agni is called the wisdom of the yajna-editor gods and they walk quickly in all places knowing everyone. (6)

दृ॒शेन्यो॒ यो म॑हि॒ना समि॒द्धोऽरो॑चत दि॒वियो॑निर्वि॒भावा॑ । तस्मि॑न्न॒ग्नौ सू॑क्तवा॒केन॑ दे॒वा ह॒विर्विश्व॒ आजु॑हवुस्तनू॒पाः ॥ (७)
जो अग्नि अपने महत्त्व के कारण दर्शनीय, प्रज्वलित स्वर्ग में स्थित एवं तेजस्वी बनकर दीप्त होते हैं, उन्हीं अग्नि के अंगरक्षक देवों ने स्तुतियां पढ़ते हुए हव्य डाला. (७)
The agnis which are visible, illuminated by virtue of their importance, located in a blazing heaven and bright, the bodyguards of the same agni, the gods, reciting the praises, gave a havya. (7)

सू॒क्त॒वा॒कं प्र॑थ॒ममादिद॒ग्निमादिद्ध॒विर॑जनयन्त दे॒वाः । स ए॑षां य॒ज्ञो अ॑भवत्तनू॒पास्तं द्यौर्वे॑द॒ तं पृ॑थि॒वी तमापः॑ ॥ (८)
देवों ने सबसे पहले मन से सूक्त वचन का चिंतन किया. इसके पश्चात् हव्य को उत्पन्न किया. वे अग्नि देवों के यज्ञपात्र एवं शरीररक्षक बने. उन अग्नि को झुलोक, पृथ्वी और अंतरिक्ष जानते हैं. (८)
The gods first thought of the sukta word from the mind. After this, the havya was produced. He became the sacrificial and body protector of the agni gods. Those agnis know the jhullok, earth and space. (8)
