ऋग्वेद (मंडल 6)
इन्द्रं॑ वो॒ नरः॑ स॒ख्याय॑ सेपुर्म॒हो यन्तः॑ सुम॒तये॑ चका॒नाः । म॒हो हि दा॒ता वज्र॑हस्तो॒ अस्ति॑ म॒हामु॑ र॒ण्वमव॑से यजध्वम् ॥ (१)
हे यजमानो! तुम्हारे मित्ररूपी ऋत्विज् मित्रता पाने के लिए इंद्र की सेवा करते हैं. वे महान् स्तोत्र बोलते हुए इंद्र की कृपादृष्टि चाहते हैं. हाथ में वज्र धारण करने वाले इंद्र महान् धनदाता हैं. तुम रक्षा के हेतु महान् एवं सुंदर इंद्र की पूजा करो. (१)
O hosts! Your friends serve Indra to find friendship. They want indra's grace while speaking the great hymn. Indra, who holds a thunderbolt in his hand, is a great giver. Worship the great and beautiful Indra for protection. (1)
ऋग्वेद (मंडल 6)
आ यस्मि॒न्हस्ते॒ नर्या॑ मिमि॒क्षुरा रथे॑ हिर॒ण्यये॑ रथे॒ष्ठाः । आ र॒श्मयो॒ गभ॑स्त्योः स्थू॒रयो॒राध्व॒न्नश्वा॑सो॒ वृष॑णो युजा॒नाः ॥ (२)
जिन इंद्र के हाथों में मानव-हितकारी धन रहता है, जो सोने के बने रथ पर बैठते हैं, जिनकी मोटी भुजाओं में किरणें समाई हुई हैं एवं जिनके कामवर्षक घोड़े रथ में जुड़े हुए हैं, उनकी हम स्तुति करते हैं. (२)
We praise indra, in whose hands is the man-benefactory wealth, who sits on a chariot made of gold, whose thick arms contain rays, and whose working horses are attached to the chariot. (2)

श्रि॒ये ते॒ पादा॒ दुव॒ आ मि॑मिक्षुर्धृ॒ष्णुर्व॒ज्री शव॑सा॒ दक्षि॑णावान् । वसा॑नो॒ अत्कं॑ सुर॒भिं दृ॒शे कं स्व१॒॑र्ण नृ॑तविषि॒रो ब॑भूथ ॥ (३)
हे इंद्र! भरद्वाज ऋषि ऐश्वर्य पाने के लिए तुम्हारे चरणों में अपनी सेवा भेंट करते हैं. तुम वज्रधारणकर्ता, शन्रुपराभवकारी एवं शक्ति द्वारा दक्षिणारूप धन स्तोताओं को देते हो. हे नेता इंद्र! तुम सबको दिखाई देने के विचार से प्रशंसनीय एवं नित्यगमन वाला रूप धारण करके सूर्य के समान घूमते हो. (३)
O Indra! The sage Bharadwaja offers his service at your feet to get glory. You give money to the psalms in the form of the thunderbolt, the shuntroper, the struppers and the right form of shakti. O leader Indra! You move around like the sun, taking a plausible and routine form with the idea of being visible to all. (3)
ऋग्वेद (मंडल 6)
स सोम॒ आमि॑श्लतमः सु॒तो भू॒द्यस्मि॑न्प॒क्तिः प॒च्यते॒ सन्ति॑ धा॒नाः । इन्द्रं॒ नरः॑ स्तु॒वन्तो॑ ब्रह्मका॒रा उ॒क्था शंस॑न्तो दे॒ववा॑ततमाः ॥ (४)
सोमरस निचुड़ जाने पर उस में भली-भांति से दूध-दही मिलाया गया है. इसके बाद ही पुरोडाश पकाया गया है एवं जौ भूने गए हैं. यज्ञ के नेता ऋत्विज् हव्यरूप अन्न धारण करते हुए इंद्र की स्तुतियां करते हैं एवं उकथों को बोलते हुए देवों के निकट जाते हैं. (४)
When the somras is drained, milk and curd have been added to it well. It is only after this that the purodash has been cooked and the barley has been roasted. The leader of the yajna, Ritaji, wearing food, praises Indra and goes close to the devas while speaking to the ukathas. (4)
ऋग्वेद (मंडल 6)
न ते॒ अन्तः॒ शव॑सो धाय्य॒स्य वि तु बा॑बधे॒ रोद॑सी महि॒त्वा । आ ता सू॒रिः पृ॑णति॒ तूतु॑जानो यू॒थेवा॒प्सु स॒मीज॑मान ऊ॒ती ॥ (५)
हे इंद्र! तुम्हारी शक्ति का अंत नहीं है. धरती-आकाश भी तुम्हारे महान् बल से डरते हैं. गोरक्षक जिस प्रकार पानी के द्वारा गायों को संतुष्ट बनाता है, उसी प्रकार स्तोता तृप्त करने वाले हवि से तुम्हें भली-भांति प्रसन्न करते हैं. (५)
O Indra! There is no end to your power. Even the earth and the heavens are afraid of your great power. Just as the cow protector satisfies the cows with water, so the stotas please you well with the satiating havi. (5)
ऋग्वेद (मंडल 6)
ए॒वेदिन्द्रः॑ सु॒हव॑ ऋ॒ष्वो अ॑स्तू॒ती अनू॑ती हिरिशि॒प्रः सत्वा॑ । ए॒वा हि जा॒तो अस॑मात्योजाः पु॒रू च॑ वृ॒त्रा ह॑नति॒ नि दस्यू॑न् ॥ (६)
हरे रंग की ठोड़ी वाले इंद्र इस प्रकार ठीक से बुलाने योग्य हैं. इंद्र स्वयं आवें अथवा न आवें, पर स्तोताओं को धन देते हैं. इस प्रकार उत्पन्न हुए इंद्र सर्वाधिक शक्तिशाली होने के कारण बड़े-बड़े शत्रुओं एवं राक्षसों को मारते हैं. (६)
Indra with green chin is thus properly summonable. Whether Indra himself comes or not, but gives money to the stoetas. Indra, thus born, being the most powerful, kills great enemies and demons. (6)
