ऋग्वेद (मंडल 7)
इन्द्रा॑वरुणा यु॒वम॑ध्व॒राय॑ नो वि॒शे जना॑य॒ महि॒ शर्म॑ यच्छतम् । दी॒र्घप्र॑यज्यु॒मति॒ यो व॑नु॒ष्यति॑ व॒यं ज॑येम॒ पृत॑नासु दू॒ढ्यः॑ ॥ (१)
हे इंद्र व वरुण! तुम हमारे परिचारक के लिए यज्ञ करने के निमित्त विशाल गृह दो. जो शत्रु हमारे अधिक समय तक यज्ञ करने वाले सेवक को मारना चाहता है, हम उस दुर्बुद्धि को युद्ध में जीतेंगे. (१)
O Indra and Varun! You give us a huge house to perform yajna for our attendant. The enemy who wants to kill the servant who performs yajna for a long time of ours, we will win that evil in battle. (1)
ऋग्वेद (मंडल 7)
स॒म्राळ॒न्यः स्व॒राळ॒न्य उ॑च्यते वां म॒हान्ता॒विन्द्रा॒वरु॑णा म॒हाव॑सू । विश्वे॑ दे॒वासः॑ पर॒मे व्यो॑मनि॒ सं वा॒मोजो॑ वृषणा॒ सं बलं॑ दधुः ॥ (२)
हे महान् एवं परम धनी इंद्र एवं वरुण! तुम में से एक सम्राट् एवं दूसरे स्वराट् हैं. हे अभिलाषापूरको! सब देवों ने तुम्हें उत्तम आकाश में तेज के साथ ही बल प्रदान किया था. (२)
O great and most rich Indra and Varuna! One of you is the emperor and the other is the swarata. That's all you want! All the gods gave you strength as well as brightness in the best of the heavens. (2)
ऋग्वेद (मंडल 7)
अन्व॒पां खान्य॑तृन्त॒मोज॒सा सूर्य॑मैरयतं दि॒वि प्र॒भुम् । इन्द्रा॑वरुणा॒ मदे॑ अस्य मा॒यिनोऽपि॑न्वतम॒पितः॒ पिन्व॑तं॒ धियः॑ ॥ (३)
हे इंद्र एवं वरुण! तुमने बलपूर्वक जल के द्वार खोले एवं आकाश में वर्तमान सूर्य को चलने के लिए प्रेरित किया. इस मादक सोम का नशा चढ़ने पर तुम जलरहित नदियों को जलपूर्ण करो एवं हमारे कर्मो को सफल बनाओ. (३)
O Indra and Varuna! You forcibly opened the gates of water and inspired the present sun to move in the sky. When the intoxication of this intoxicating mon ascends, you water the waterless rivers and make our deeds successful. (3)

यु॒वामिद्यु॒त्सु पृत॑नासु॒ वह्न॑यो यु॒वां क्षेम॑स्य प्रस॒वे मि॒तज्ञ॑वः । ई॒शा॒ना वस्व॑ उ॒भय॑स्य का॒रव॒ इन्द्रा॑वरुणा सु॒हवा॑ हवामहे ॥ (४)
हे इंद्र एवं वरुण! युद्धभूमि में शत्रुसेना के मध्य फंसे हुए स्तोता एवं पैर सिकोड़कर बैठे हुए अंगिरागोत्रीय नौ ऋषि रक्षा के लिए तुम्हें ही बुलाते हैं. हे दिव्य एवं पार्थिव धन के स्वामियो एवं सुखपूर्वक बुलाने योग्यो! हम तुम्हें बुलाते हैं. (४)
O Indra and Varuna! The nine sages of the Angiragotrian, who are trapped in the midst of the enemy army in the battlefield, and sitting with their feet squeezed, call you for protection. O masters of divine and earthly wealth and are worthy to be called with joy! We call you. (4)

इन्द्रा॑वरुणा॒ यदि॒मानि॑ च॒क्रथु॒र्विश्वा॑ जा॒तानि॒ भुव॑नस्य म॒ज्मना॑ । क्षेमे॑ण मि॒त्रो वरु॑णं दुव॒स्यति॑ म॒रुद्भि॑रु॒ग्रः शुभ॑म॒न्य ई॑यते ॥ (५)
हे इंद्र एवं वरुण! तुमने लोक के समस्त प्राणियों को अपनी शक्ति से बनाया है. मित्र रक्षा के हेतु वरुण की सेवा करते हैं. इंद्र मरुतों के सहयोग से उग्र बनकर शोभन अलंकार प्राप्त करते हैं. (५)
O Indra and Varuna! You have created all the beings of the people by your power. Friends serve Varun for protection. Indra, with the help of the Maruts, becomes furious and receives shobhan ornaments. (5)
ऋग्वेद (मंडल 7)
म॒हे शु॒ल्काय॒ वरु॑णस्य॒ नु त्वि॒ष ओजो॑ मिमाते ध्रु॒वम॑स्य॒ यत्स्वम् । अजा॑मिम॒न्यः श्न॒थय॑न्त॒माति॑रद्द॒भ्रेभि॑र॒न्यः प्र वृ॑णोति॒ भूय॑सः ॥ (६)
महान् धन पाने के लिए प्रकाश उपलब्ध करने हेतु इंद्र एवं वरुण को शीघ्र बल प्राप्त हो जाता है. इनका वह बल स्थायी है. इन में से एक स्तुति एवं यज्ञ न करने वाले की हिंसा करते हैं एवं दूसरे लघु उपायों से ही बहुत से शत्रुओं को बाधा पहुंचाते हैं. (६)
Indra and Varuna quickly gain strength to provide light to gain great wealth. That force of theirs is permanent. One of them acts on the violence of those who do not perform praise and yajna, and the other hinders many enemies by small measures. (6)
ऋग्वेद (मंडल 7)
न तमंहो॒ न दु॑रि॒तानि॒ मर्त्य॒मिन्द्रा॑वरुणा॒ न तपः॒ कुत॑श्च॒न । यस्य॑ देवा॒ गच्छ॑थो वी॒थो अ॑ध्व॒रं न तं मर्त॑स्य नशते॒ परि॑ह्वृतिः ॥ (७)
हे इंद्र एवं वरुणदेव! तुम जिस मनुष्य के यज्ञ में जाते हो एवं जिसकी कामना करते हो, उसके पास पाप, पाप के फल एवं संताप नहीं जाते. उसे किसी प्रकार की बाधा भी नहीं होती. (७)
O Indra and Varundev! The man whose yajna you go to and desire does not possess sin, the fruits of sin and the wrath of sin. He doesn't even have any kind of obstacle. (7)

अ॒र्वाङ्न॑रा॒ दैव्ये॒नाव॒सा ग॑तं शृणु॒तं हवं॒ यदि॑ मे॒ जुजो॑षथः । यु॒वोर्हि स॒ख्यमु॒त वा॒ यदाप्यं॑ मार्डी॒कमि॑न्द्रावरुणा॒ नि य॑च्छतम् ॥ (८)
हे नेता इंद्र एवं वरुण! यदि तुम मुझसे प्रसन्न हो तो अपने दिव्य रक्षासाधनों के साथ आओ एवं मेरी पुकार सुनो. तुम्हारी मैत्री एवं बंधुता सुख का साधन है. उन्हें हमें प्रदान करो. (८)
O leaders Indra and Varuna! If you are pleased with Me, come with your divine means of protection and listen to My call. Your friendship and brotherhood are a means of happiness. Give them to us. (8)
