ऋग्वेद (मंडल 8)
ईळि॑ष्वा॒ हि प्र॑ती॒व्यं१॒॑ यज॑स्व जा॒तवे॑दसम् । च॒रि॒ष्णुधू॑म॒मगृ॑भीतशोचिषम् ॥ (१)
शत्रुओं के विरोध में गमन करने वाले अग्नि की स्तुति करो. सभी उत्पन्न प्राणियों को जानने वाले, सब ओर गतिशील धुएं वाले व राक्षसों द्वारा बाधाहीन ज्योति अग्नि की पूजा हव्यों द्वारा करो. (१)
Praise the agni that moves against the enemies. Worship the light agni, which knows all beings, who know all beings, the smokeless ones everywhere and the unhindered flame by demons. (1)

दा॒मानं॑ विश्वचर्षणे॒ऽग्निं वि॑श्वमनो गि॒रा । उ॒त स्तु॑षे॒ विष्प॑र्धसो॒ रथा॑नाम् ॥ (२)
हे ज्ञान-दृष्टि से सब अर्थ देने वाले विश्वमना नामक ऋषि! स्तुतिवचनों द्वारा अग्नि की प्रशंसा करो. वे यजमान को रथ आदि संपत्ति देते हैं. (२)
O sage named Vishwamana, who gives all meaning from the point of view of knowledge! Praise the agni by the eulogies. They give property like chariots etc. to the host. (2)

येषा॑माबा॒ध ऋ॒ग्मिय॑ इ॒षः पृ॒क्षश्च॑ नि॒ग्रभे॑ । उ॒प॒विदा॒ वह्नि॑र्विन्दते॒ वसु॑ ॥ (३)
शत्रुओं को सामने से बाधा पहुंचाने वाले एवं ऋचाओं द्वारा पूजा करने योग्य अग्नि जिनके हव्य अन्न एवं सोमरस ग्रहण करते हैं, वे ही यजमान धन पाते है. (३)
The agni that hinders the enemies from the front and worshipable by the riches, whose havyas receive food and somras, they get the host wealth. (3)
ऋग्वेद (मंडल 8)
उद॑स्य शो॒चिर॑स्थाद्दीदि॒युषो॒ व्य१॒॑जर॑म् । तपु॑र्जम्भस्य सु॒द्युतो॑ गण॒श्रियः॑ ॥ (४)
भली प्रकार दीप्तिशाली, तापदाता दाढ़ वाले, शोभन दीप्तियुक्त एवं यजमानों का आश्रय लेने वाले अग्नि का जरारहित तेज उठता है. (४)
The agni that is well-lit, with a warm molar, a warm-hearted and sheltering host, rises without a bit of agni. (4)

उदु॑ तिष्ठ स्वध्वर॒ स्तवा॑नो दे॒व्या कृ॒पा । अ॒भि॒ख्या भा॒सा बृ॑ह॒ता शु॑शु॒क्वनिः॑ ॥ (५)
हे शोभन यज्ञस्तुति किए जाते हुए, चारों ओर जाती हुई प्रसिद्ध दीप्ति से युक्त एवं ज्वलनशील अग्नि! तुम तेजस्वी ज्वालाओं के साथ बैठो. (५)
O Shobhan Yajnasuti being performed, the famous and inflammable agni with the famous glow going around! You sit with stunning flames. (5)

अग्ने॑ या॒हि सु॑श॒स्तिभि॑र्ह॒व्या जुह्वा॑न आनु॒षक् । यथा॑ दू॒तो ब॒भूथ॑ हव्य॒वाह॑नः ॥ (६)
हे हव्य वहन करने वाले अग्नि! तुम देवों के दूत हो, इसलिए देवों को हव्य देते हुए शोभन स्तुतियों के साथ आओ. (६)
O agni that carries the wind! You are the messengers of the gods, so come with shobhan praises, giving greetings to the gods. (6)

अ॒ग्निं वः॑ पू॒र्व्यं हु॑वे॒ होता॑रं चर्षणी॒नाम् । तम॒या वा॒चा गृ॑णे॒ तमु॑ वः स्तुषे ॥ (७)
मैं मनुष्यों के यज्ञ पूर्ण करने वाले एवं प्राचीन अग्नि को बुलाता हूं. मैं इन स्तुतिवचनों द्वारा उनकी प्रशंसा करता हूं एवं तुम्हारे लिए उन्हें बुलाता हूं. (७)
I call upon the ancient agni, who completes the yagna of man. I praise them through these praises and call them to you. (7)

य॒ज्ञेभि॒रद्भु॑तक्रतुं॒ यं कृ॒पा सू॒दय॑न्त॒ इत् । मि॒त्रं न जने॒ सुधि॑तमृ॒ताव॑नि ॥ (८)
विचित्र कर्म वाले, मित्र के समान स्थित, हव्यों द्वारा तृप्त अग्नि की कृपा से अपनी सामर्थ्य के अनुसार यज्ञ करने वाले यजमान की अभिलाषा पूरी होती है. (८)
Situated like a friend, with strange deeds, by the grace of the agni satisfied by the human beings, the desire of the host performing yajna according to his power is fulfilled. (8)
