ऋग्वेद (मंडल 8)
तमिन्द्रं॑ जोहवीमि म॒घवा॑नमु॒ग्रं स॒त्रा दधा॑न॒मप्र॑तिष्कुतं॒ शवां॑सि । मंहि॑ष्ठो गी॒र्भिरा च॑ य॒ज्ञियो॑ व॒वर्त॑द्रा॒ये नो॒ विश्वा॑ सु॒पथा॑ कृणोतु व॒ज्री ॥ (१३)
मैं उस शक्तिशाली, धनस्वामी, सच्चा बल धारण करने वाले एवं शत्रुओं द्वारा न रोके जाने वाले इंद्र को बुलाता हूं. अतिशय पूज्य एवं यज्ञ के योग्य इंद्र हमारी स्तुतियां सुनकर सामने आवें. वज्रधारी इंद्र सभी मार्गो को हमारी धनप्राप्ति के लिए शोभन बनावें. (१३)
I call the powerful, the rich, the possessor of true force, and the Indra, who is not stopped by the enemies. May Indra, who is worthy of utmost worship and yajna, come forward to hear our praises. May the thunderbolt Indra make all the paths a adornment for our wealth. (13)
