ऋग्वेद (मंडल 9)
अ॒या सोमः॑ सुकृ॒त्यया॑ म॒हश्चि॑द॒भ्य॑वर्धत । म॒न्दा॒न उद्वृ॑षायते ॥ (१)
निचोड़ने की इस शोभन क्रिया द्वारा सोम देवों के लिए वृद्धि को प्राप्त हुए हैं एवं प्रसन्न होकर बैल के समान शब्द करते हैं. (१)
Through this shobhan kriya of squeezing, the somas have attained growth for the devas and are pleased to say words like bulls. (1)
ऋग्वेद (मंडल 9)
कृ॒तानीद॑स्य॒ कर्त्वा॒ चेत॑न्ते दस्यु॒तर्ह॑णा । ऋ॒णा च॑ धृ॒ष्णुश्च॑यते ॥ (२)
इन सोम के असुरनाशन आदि कर्म हमने किए हैं. शत्रुओं को हराने वाले सोम यजमानों के ऋण भी चुकाते हैं. (२)
We have done the asurashana etc. deeds of these somas. The mons who defeat the enemies also pay the debts of the hosts. (2)

आत्सोम॑ इन्द्रि॒यो रसो॒ वज्रः॑ सहस्र॒सा भु॑वत् । उ॒क्थं यद॑स्य॒ जाय॑ते ॥ (३)
जिस समय इंद्रसंबंधी मंत्र बोले जाते हैं, तभी इंद्र का प्रिय करने वाले, बलवान् व वज्र के समान हिंसाशून्य सोम हमारे लिए असीमित धन देते हैं. (३)
At the time when Indra's mantras are spoken, only then does the violenceless Som, like the Balvanva Vajra, who is indra's beloved, give us unlimited wealth. (3)

स्व॒यं क॒विर्वि॑ध॒र्तरि॒ विप्रा॑य॒ रत्न॑मिच्छति । यदी॑ मर्मृ॒ज्यते॒ धियः॑ ॥ (४)
जब क्रांत कर्म वाले सोम उंगलियों द्वारा शुद्ध किए जाते हैं, तभी वे मेधावी स्तोता को अभिलाषापूरक इंद्र से रमणीय धन दिलाना चाहते हैं. (४)
When the mons of kranta karma are cleansed by the fingers, only then do they want to give the meritorious hymn a delightful sum of money from the desireful Indra. (4)
ऋग्वेद (मंडल 9)
सि॒षा॒सतू॑ रयी॒णां वाजे॒ष्वर्व॑तामिव । भरे॑षु जि॒ग्युषा॑मसि ॥ (५)
हे सोम! संग्राम में जाने वाले घोड़े को जिस प्रकार घास दी जाती है, उसी प्रकार तुम संग्राम में जीतने वालों को शत्रुओं के धन देते हो. (५)
Hey Mon! Just as grass is given to the horse that goes into the battle, you give the money of enemies to those who win in the battle. (5)
