सामवेद (अध्याय 1)
इदं त एकं पर ऊ त एकं तृतीयेन ज्योतिषा सं विशस्व । संवेशनस्तन्वे३ चारुरेधि प्रियो देवानां परमे जनित्रे ॥ (३)
हे मृत्यु धर्म वाले मनुष्य! अग्नि तुम्हारा एक भाग है. वायु तुम्हारा दूसरा भाग (शरीर) है. सूर्य रूप तीसरे भाग (तेज) से तुम मिलते हो. उन से मुक्त हो कर मुनष्य तेजस्वी रूप प्राप्त करता है. अर्थात् मनुष्य को पावन स्थान में जन्म ले कर देव शक्तियों के लिए प्रिय तथा श्रेष्ठ बनना चाहिए. (पिछले मंत्र में मृत्यु के बाद पुनः प्रकृति में मिलने की क्रिया बताई है). (३)
O man of death! Agni is a part of you. Air is your second part (body). You meet the third part (tej) in the form of the sun. By being free from them, man attains a stunning form. That is, a person should be born in a holy place and become dear and superior to godly powers. (In the previous mantra, after death, the action of meeting again in nature is told). (3)
