सामवेद (अध्याय 1)
अबोध्यग्निः समिधा जनानां प्रति धेनुमिवायतीमुषासम् । यह्वा इव प्र वयामुज्जिहानाः प्र भानवः सस्रते नाकमच्छ ॥ (१)
हे अग्नि! आप यजमानों की श्रद्धा से प्रज्वलित हैं. जैसे अग्निहोत्र (सुबह यज्ञ करने वाले) के लिए पाली हुई गाय प्रातःकाल उठ जाती है, वैसे ही प्रातःकाल आप प्रज्वलित होते हैं (किए जाते हैं). पेड़ की फैली हुई शाखाओं के समान आप की किरणें भी दूरदूर तक फैलती हैं. (१)
O agni! You are ignited by the reverence of the hosts. Just as a cow reared for Agnihotra (morning yagya) wakes up in the morning, so in the morning you are ignited (done). Like the spread branches of the tree, your rays also spread far and wide. (1)
सामवेद (अध्याय 1)
प्र भूर्जयन्तं महां विपोधां मूरैरमूरं पुरां दर्माणम् । नयन्तं गीर्भिर्वना धियं धा हरिश्मश्रुं न वार्मणा धनर्चिम् ॥ (२)
हे अग्नि! आप राक्षसों को जीतने वाले हैं. आप विद्वानों को धारण करने वाले हैं. मूर्खो के आश्रय (स्थान) का नाश करने वाले हैं. आप स्तुति करने वाले को ऐश्वर्य देने वाले हैं. आप कवच के समान रक्षा करने वाले हैं. आप सुनहरी ज्वालाओं वाले हैं. हे मनुष्य! तुम ऐसे अग्नि की आराधना करो. (२)
O agni! You're going to conquer monsters. You are going to hold scholars. They are going to destroy the shelter of fools. You are going to give opulence to the one who praises. You are a protector like armor. You are the one with golden flames. O man! You worship such agni. (2)
सामवेद (अध्याय 1)
शुक्रं ते अन्यद्यजतं ते अन्यद्विषुरूपे अहनी द्यौरिवासि । विश्वा हि माया अवसि स्वधावन्भद्रा ते पूषन्निह रातिरस्तु ॥ (३)
हे पूषा! आप का तेजस्वी रंग वाला दिन अलग है. उसी तरह काले रंग वाली रात्रि अलग है. आप की महिमा से ये अलगअलग रंग वाले भाग एक ही दिनरात के हैं. आप पोषण करने वाले हैं. आप सारे जग की रक्षा करने वाले हैं. आप कल्याण करने वाले हैं. आप हमारा कल्याण करें. (३)
O Pusha! Your bright colored day is different. In the same way, the night with black color is different. These different colored parts from your glory are of the same day and night. You are the nurturer. You are going to protect the whole world. You are a welfare doer. You do us welfare. (3)
सामवेद (अध्याय 1)
इडामग्ने पुरुदँसँ सनिं गोः शश्वत्तमँ हवमानाय साध । स्यान्नः सूनुस्तनयो विजावाग्ने सा ते सुमतिर्भूत्वस्मे ॥ (४)
हे अग्नि! आप अनेक कामों में उपयोगी सुमति हमें दीजिए. आप गायों को देने वाली स्तुति हमें दीजिए. आप हमें पुत्रपौत्र प्रदान कीजिए. आप उत्तम बुद्धि वाले हैं. कृपया भली प्रकार आराधना करने वाले यजमान को ये सब प्रदान कीजिए. (४)
O agni! You give us useful advice in many works. You give us the praise you give to the cows. You give us a son-grandson. You are good-minded. Please give all this to the well-worshiped host. (4)
सामवेद (अध्याय 1)
प्र होता जातो महान्नभोविन्नृषद्मा सीददपां विवर्ते । दधद्यो धायी सुते वयाँसि यन्ता वसूनि विधते तनूपाः ॥ (५)
हे अग्नि! आप सभी घरों में मौजूद रहते हैं. आप बादलों के बीच बिजली के रूप में रहते हैं. इस समय आप यज्ञ में मौजूद हैं. आप महान हैं. आप अंतरिक्ष को जानने वाले हैं. हवि को धारण करने वाले हैं. आप हमें अन्न, धन व संरक्षण प्रदान कीजिए. (५)
O agni! You are present in all the houses. You live as lightning among the clouds. At this time you are present in the yajna. You are great. You are going to know space. They are going to wear Havi. You give us food, money and protection. (5)
सामवेद (अध्याय 1)
प्र सम्राजमसुरस्य प्रश्स्तं पुँसः कृष्टीनामनुमाद्यस्य । इन्द्रस्येव प्र तवसस्कृतानि वन्दद्वारा वन्दमाना विवष्टु ॥ (६)
हे अग्नि! आप बलवान और वीर मनुष्य के स्तुति योग्य हैं. आप बल में इंद्र के समान हैं. आप के इस प्रशंसनीय स्वरूप की स्तुति करते हैं. हे यजमान! स्तुति और आराधना से अग्नि की उपासना करो. (६)
O agni! You are worthy of praise for a strong and brave man. You are like Indra in force. Praise this admirable form of you. O host! Worship agni with praise and worship. (6)
सामवेद (अध्याय 1)
अरण्योर्निहितो जातवेदा गर्भ इवेत्सुभृतो गर्भिणीभिः । दिवेदिव ईड्यो जागृवद्भिर्हविष्मद्भिर्मनुष्येभिरग्निः ॥ (७)
हे अग्नि! आप सब प्रकार के ज्ञान वाले हैं. आप अच्छी तरह गर्भ धारण करने वाली स्त्री के समान अरणियों द्वारा धारण किए जाते हैं. यज्ञ के लिए जागरूक रहने वाले यजमानों द्वारा प्रतिदिन आप वंदनीय हैं. (७)
O agni! You have all kinds of knowledge. You are worn by the same arrays as a well-conceived woman. You are revered every day by the hosts who are aware of the yajna. (7)
सामवेद (अध्याय 1)
सनादग्ने मृणसि यातुधानान्न त्वा रक्षाँसि पृतनासु जिग्युः । अनु दह सहमूरान्कयादो मा ते हेत्या मुक्षत दैव्यायाः ॥ (८)
हे अग्नि! आप हमेशा शत्रुओं को बाधा देने वाले हैं. आप को युद्ध में राक्षस नहीं जीत सकते. आप मांस खाने वाले राक्षसों को अपने तेज से भस्म कर दीजिए. आप के इस हथियार से कोई शत्रु न बचे. (८)
O agni! You are always going to hinder enemies. You can't win monsters in war. You consume the meat-eating demons with your swiftness. No enemies are left with this weapon of yours. (8)
