अथर्ववेद (कांड 10)
अ॑न॒न्तं वित॑तं पुरु॒त्रान॒न्तमन्त॑वच्चा॒ सम॑न्ते । ते ना॑कपा॒लश्च॑रति विचि॒न्वन्वि॒द्वान्भू॒तमु॒त भव्य॑मस्य ॥ (१२)
एक तत्त्व अंतहीन तथा चारों ओर विस्तृत है. दूसरा अंतहीन तथा अंत वाला है. ये दोनों परस्पर मिले हुए हैं. स्वर्ग सुख का इच्छुक उन्हें खोजता फिरता है. वही सब जानता है तथा भूत और भविष्य उसी के कर्म हैं. यहां पहला परमात्मा और दूसरा आत्मा है. (१२)
One element is endless and wide all around. The second is endless and end-ending. These two are intertwined. Heaven seeks them desirous of happiness. He knows everything and the past and the future are His deeds. Here the first is God and the second soul. (12)
