अथर्ववेद: | सूक्त: 2
स॑हस्रा॒क्षम॑तिप॒श्यं पु॒रस्ता॑द्रु॒द्रमस्य॑न्तं बहु॒धा वि॑प॒श्चित॑म् । मोपा॑राम जि॒ह्वयेय॑मानम् ॥ (१७)
हजार नेत्रों वाले, क्रांतदर्शी, सामने की ओर बाण चलाने वाले, मेधावी एवं भक्षण के लिए सारे संसार को अपनी जीभ के अग्र भाग से व्याप्त करने वाले रुद्र के सामने हम न जाएं. (१७)
We should not go in front of Rudra, who has a thousand eyes, a revolutionary, an arrow-wielding in front, meritorious and who pervades the whole world with the front of his tongue for food. (17)
