अथर्ववेद (कांड 12)
यद॒न्ये श॒तं याचे॑युर्ब्राह्म॒णा गोप॑तिं व॒शाम् । अथै॑नां दे॒वा अ॑ब्रुवन्ने॒वं ह॑ वि॒दुषो॑ व॒शा ॥ (२२)
गौ के स्वामी से चाहे अन्य सैकड़ों ब्राह्मण वशा की याचना करें, पर वशा विद्वान् की होती है, ऐसी देवों की उक्ति है. (२२)
Even if hundreds of other Brahmins plead with the owner of the cow, but the vasha belongs to the scholar, such is the saying of the gods. (22)
