अथर्ववेद (कांड 18)
उच्छ्व॑ञ्चस्वपृथिवि॒ मा नि बा॑धथाः सूपाय॒नास्मै॑ भव सूपसर्प॒णा । मा॒ता पु॒त्रं यथा॑सि॒चाभ्येनं भूम ऊर्णुहि ॥ (५०)
हे भू देवता! तुम पुलकित हो जाओ और अपने समीप आए हुए पुरुष को बाधा मत दो. अपितु इस पुरुष के सुख से प्राप्त होने वाली बनो. माता जिस प्रकार अपने पुत्र को आंचल से ढकती है, उसी प्रकार अपने पास आए इस पुरुष को चारों ओर से ढक लो. इस से इसे शीत, उष्ण आदि दुःख नहीं होंगे. (५०)
O god of the earth! You get excited and don't interrupt the man who is near you. Rather, be the one who gets the happiness of this man. Just as the mother covers her son with anchal, cover this man who comes to you from all sides. This will not cause it cold, hot, etc. (50)
