अथर्ववेद (कांड 20)
न्यू॒षु वाचं॒ प्र म॒हे भ॑रामहे॒ गिर॒ इन्द्रा॑य॒ सद॑ने वि॒वस्व॑तः । नू चि॒द्धि रत्नं॑ सस॒तामि॒वावि॑द॒न्न दु॑ष्टु॒तिर्द्र॑विणो॒देषु॑ शस्यते ॥ (१)
हम इन इंद्र के लिए शोभन स्तुतियां प्रदान करते हैं. उपासना करने वाले यजमान के यज्ञमंडप में इंद्र के लिए स्तुतियां की जा रही हैं. जिस प्रकार चोर सोते हुए लोगों का धन शीघ्र प्राप्त कर लेता है, उसी प्रकार इंद्र असुरों का धन प्राप्त करते हैं. धन देने वाले पुरुषों के प्रति बुरी स्तुति प्रयोग नहीं की जाती. (१)
We offer shobhan eulogies for these Indras. Praises are being made for Indra in the yagyamandap of the worshiping host. Just as a thief gets the money of sleeping people quickly, in the same way Indra gets the money of asuras. Bad praise is not used against men who give money. (1)
अथर्ववेद (कांड 20)
दु॒रो अश्व॑स्य दु॒र इ॑न्द्र॒ गोर॑सि दु॒रो यव॑स्य॒ वसु॑न इ॒नस्पतिः॑ । शि॑क्षान॒रः प्र॒दिवो॒ अका॑मकर्शनः॒ सखा॒ सखि॑भ्य॒स्तमि॒दं गृ॑णीमसि ॥ (२)
हे इंद्र! तुम अश्व, गज आदि वाहनों, गाय, भैंस आदि पशुओं तथा जौ, गेहूं आदि अन्नों के देने वाले हो. तुम स्वर्ण, मणि, मोती आदि धनों के स्वामी एवं रक्षक हो. तुम दान के नेता, अपने सेवकों की इच्छा बढ़ाने वाले तथा अपने ऋत्विजों के मित्र हो, इसलिए तुम्हारे प्रति हम इस स्तुति का उच्चारण करते हैं. (२)
O Indra! You are the givers of horses, yards, vehicles, cows, buffaloes, etc. and grains like barley, wheat etc. You are the master and protector of wealth like gold, gem, pearl etc. You are the leader of charity, the one who increases the will of your servants and the friend of your ritvijas, so we pronounce this praise to you. (2)
अथर्ववेद (कांड 20)
शची॑व इन्द्र पुरुकृद्द्युमत्तम॒ तवेदि॒दम॒भित॑श्चेकिते॒ वसु॑ । अतः॑ सं॒गृभ्या॑भिभूत॒ आ भ॑र॒ मा त्वा॑य॒तो ज॑रि॒तुः काम॑मूनयीः ॥ (३)
हे इंद्र! तुम बुद्धिमान, परम ऐश्वर्य युक्त तथा बहुत से कर्म करने वाले हो. सर्वत्र विद्यमान धन के तुम्हीं स्वामी हो. हे शत्रुओं को बारबार पराजित करने वाले इंद्र! इसलिए तुम पूरे धन का संग्रह कर के मुझे प्रदान करो. मैं तुम्हारी कामना करता हुआ तुम्हारी स्तुति करता हूं. मुझे तुम अपूर्ण मत रहने दो. (३)
O Indra! You are intelligent, have supreme opulence and do many things. You are the master of wealth everywhere. O Indra, who defeats enemies again and again! So you collect the entire money and provide it to me. I wish you and praise you. Don't let me be imperfect you. (3)
अथर्ववेद (कांड 20)
ए॒भिर्द्युभि॑र्सु॒मना॑ ए॒भिरिन्दु॑भिर्निरुन्धा॒नो अम॑तिं॒ गोभि॑र॒श्विना॑ । इन्द्रे॑ण॒ दस्युं॑ द॒रय॑न्त॒ इन्दु॑भिर्यु॒तद्वे॑षसः समि॒षा र॑भेमहि ॥ (४)
हे इंद्र! हमारी अधिक हवि और सोमरस से प्रसन्न होते हुए तुम गाय और अश्च आदि धन दे कर हमारी दरिद्रता समाप्त करो. हे शोभन मन वाले इंद्र! हमारे द्वारा दिए हुए सोमरसों से प्रसन्न हो कर तुम शत्रुओं की हिंसा करते हुए हमें शत्रुविहीन बनाओ. हम इंद्र के द्वारा दिए हुए अन्न से संपन्न हों. (४)
O Indra! Please with our greater desire and someras, you should end our poverty by giving money like cow and ashcha etc. O Indra with a sense of mind! Please be pleased with the somersas given by us and make us enemyless by violence against the enemies. Let us be endowed with the food given by Indra. (4)
अथर्ववेद (कांड 20)
समि॑न्द्र रा॒या समि॒षा र॑भेमहि॒ सं वाजे॑भिः पुरुश्च॒न्द्रैर॒भिद्यु॑भिः । सं दे॒व्या प्रम॑त्या वी॒रशु॑ष्मया गोअग्र॒याश्वा॑वत्या रभेमहि ॥ (५)
हे इंद्र! हम सब के द्वारा चाहे गए धन से संपन्न हों. हम प्रजाओं को प्रसन्न करने वाले बल से युक्त हों. हमें तुम्हारी कृपामयी बुद्धि प्राप्त हो. वह बुद्धि हमें गायों को देने वाली तथा हमारे क्लेशों का निवारण करने वाली हो. (५)
O Indra! We should be endowed with the money we all want. Let us be equipped with the force that pleases the people. May we have your gracious intellect. That intellect gives us cows and removes our sufferings. (5)
अथर्ववेद (कांड 20)
ते त्वा॒ मदा॑ अमद॒न्तानि॒ वृष्ण्या॑ ते॒ सोमा॑सो वृत्र॒हत्ये॑षु सत्पते । यत्का॒रवे॒ दश॑ वृ॒त्राण्य॑प्र॒ति ब॒र्हिष्म॑ते॒ नि स॒हस्रा॑णि ब॒र्हयः॑ ॥ (६)
हे सज्जनों के रक्षक इंद्र! शत्रुओं के हनन कर्म में प्रसिद्ध एवं मादक आज्य, पुरोडाश आदि तुम्हें प्रसन्न करें. हमारे प्रसिद्ध स्तोत्र भी प्रसन्नता के साधन होने के कारण तुम्हें हर्षित करें. प्रसिद्ध सोमरस भी तुम्हें प्रसन्न करें. स्तुति करते हुए यजमान के दस सहस्र पापों को तुम समाप्त करो. (६)
O Indra, protector of gentlemen! May famous and intoxicating ajya, purodash etc. please you in the work of enemies. May our famous hymns also make you happy because they are a means of happiness. May the famous Somers also please you. By praising, put an end to the host's ten thousand sins. (6)
अथर्ववेद (कांड 20)
यु॒धा युध॒मुप॒ घेदे॑षि धृष्णु॒या पु॒रा पुरं॒ समि॒दं हं॒स्योज॑सा । नम्या॒ यदि॑न्द्र॒ सख्या॑ परा॒वति॑ निब॒र्हयो॒ नमु॑चिं॒ नाम॑ मा॒यिन॑म् ॥ (७)
हे इंद्र! तुम अपने प्रहार के साधन वज्र के द्वारा शत्रुओं के आयुधों पर आक्रमण करते हो. तुम शत्रुओं के नगरों में निवास करने वाले वीरों को अपने मरुद्गण आदि वीरों के द्वारा नष्ट कराते हो. तुम ने मायावी नमुचि का संहार किया था, इसलिए हम तुम्हारी स्तुति करते हैं. (७)
O Indra! You attack the weapons of the enemies through the thunderbolt, the means of your attack. You destroy the heroes who live in the cities of enemies through your deserts etc. heroes. You killed the elusive namuchi, so we praise you. (7)
अथर्ववेद (कांड 20)
त्वं कर॑ञ्जमु॒त प॒र्णयं॑ वधी॒स्तेजि॑ष्ठयातिथि॒ग्वस्य॑ वर्त॒नी । त्वं श॒ता वङ्गृ॑दस्याभिन॒त्पुरो॑ऽनानु॒दः परि॑षूता ऋ॒जिश्व॑ना ॥ (८)
हे इंद्र! तुम ने अपनी अतिशय तेज युक्त वर्तनी नाम की शक्ति से अतिथि अतिथिग्व के राजा के शत्रुओं करंज एवं पर्णय असुरों का वध किया था. तुम ने ऋजिश्वा राजा के शन्रु वंगृदासुर के सौ नगरों का भी विध्वंस किया था. (८)
O Indra! You killed karanj and parnaya asuras, the enemies of the king of Atithigava, with the power of your very sharp spelling name. You also destroyed the hundred cities of Vangridasur, the shanru of the Rishishwa king. (8)
