अथर्ववेद (कांड 4)
दौष्व॑प्न्यं॒ दौर्जी॑वित्यं॒ रक्षो॑ अ॒भ्व॑मरा॒य्यः॑ । दु॒र्णाम्नीः॒ सर्वा॑ दु॒र्वाच॒स्ता अ॒स्मन्ना॑शयामसि ॥ (५)
हम अभिचार द्वारा सताए हुए इस पुरुष से बुरे स्वप्न संबंधी भय को, दुष्ट जीवन वाले लोगों संबंधी भय को, राक्षसों संबंधी भय को और महान अभिचार से उत्पन्न भय के कारण को नष्ट करते हैं. दरिद्रता के कारण पाप लक्ष्मियां, छेदिका, भेदिका आदि दुष्ट नामों वाली जो पिशाचियां हैं, मैं उन्हें भी इस के शरीर से दूर भगाता हूं. We destroy the fear of nightmares from this man persecuted by immorality, the fear of people with evil lives, the fear of demons, and the cause of fear arising from great conduct. Due to poverty, I also drive away the vampires with evil names like sin lakshmis, chhedika, bhedika, etc. from their body. (5)
