अथर्ववेद (कांड 6)
सं प॑र॒मान्त्सम॑व॒मानथो॒ सं द्या॑मि मध्य॒मान् । इन्द्र॒स्तान्पर्य॑हा॒र्दाम्ना॒ तान॑ग्ने॒ सं द्या॒ त्वम् ॥ (२)
मैं शत्रु की दूर देश वर्तिनी तथा समीप वर्तिनी सेनाओं को पाशों के द्वारा बांधता हूं. मैं समीप और दूर के मध्य स्थान में वर्तमान सेनाओं को भी पाशों से बांधता हूं. इस प्रकार की सेनाओं एवं सेनापतियों को संग्राम के स्वामी इंद्र त्याग दें. हे अग्नि! इंद्र द्वारा त्यागे हुए इन क्षत्रियों को तुम पाशों से बांधो. (२)
I bind the enemy's distant country and the near-country armies through loops. I also trap the present armies in the middle of the near and the far. Swami Indra of the struggle should abandon such armies and generals. O agni! Tie these Kshatriyas abandoned by Indra with loops. (2)
