अथर्ववेद (कांड 6)
यद्दारु॑णि ब॒ध्यसे॒ यच्च॒ रज्ज्वां॒ यद्भूम्यां॑ ब॒ध्यसे॒ यच्च॑ वा॒चा । अ॒यं तस्मा॒द्गार्ह॑पत्यो नो अ॒ग्निरुदिन्न॑याति सुकृ॒तस्य॑ लो॒कम् ॥ (२)
हे पुरुष! तुम काठ के बंधन में, रस्सी में अथवा धरती के गड्ढे में राजा की आज्ञा से बांधे गए हो. यह गार्हपत्य अग्नि तुम्हें उन बंधनों से छुड़ा कर वह लोक प्राप्त कराएं, जो उत्तम कर्म करने के फल के रूप में मिलता है. (२)
O man! You are tied in a wooden bond, in a rope or in a pit of the earth by the command of the king. May this agni free you from those bonds and attain the world that comes as the fruit of doing good deeds. (2)
