हे दुंदुभि! तू अपने घोष से पृथ्वी और आकाश को भर दे. अनेक प्रकार से स्थित प्राणी अनेक देशों में तेरा जय घोष सुनें. इस प्रकार का तू संग्राम के देव इंद्र और उन के अनुचर मरुतों के द्वारा हमारे शत्रुओं को दूर से भी दूर स्थान पर भगा दे. (१)
O dundubi! Fill the earth and the sky with your voice. Animals located in many ways should hear your chants in many countries. In this way, you should drive our enemies away from far away through Indra, the god of war, and his followers Maruts. (1)
आ क्र॑न्दय॒ बल॒मोजो॑ न॒ आ धा॑ अ॒भि ष्टन दुरि॒ता बाध॑मानः । अप॑ सेध दुन्दुभे दु॒च्छुना॑मि॒त इन्द्र॑स्य मु॒ष्टिर॑सि वी॒डय॑स्व ॥ (२)
हे दुंदुभि! तू अपने शब्द से शत्रु की सेना अर्थात् रथ, घोड़े हाथी और पैदल सैनिकों को पराजित कर के हमारे बल को बढ़ा. तू पराजय के कारणों और शत्रुओं द्वारा दिए हुए दुःखों को दूर करता हुआ ऐसा श्रवण कटु शब्द कर, जिस से शत्रुओं के हृदय फट जाएं. तू इस युद्ध स्थल से शत्रुओं की सेना को भगा दे. तू इंद्र देव की मुट्ठी के समान शत्रु नाशकारी है, इसलिए तू दूढ़ हो. (२)
O dundubi! With your word, you increase our force by defeating the enemy's army i.e. chariots, horses, elephants and foot soldiers. Remove the causes of defeat and the sorrows given by the enemies, make such a hearing harsh words, which will break the hearts of the enemies. You drive away the army of enemies from this battlefield. You are as destructive as an enemy as indra dev's fist, so you are crooked. (2)
हे इंद्र! तुम दूर दिखाई देने वाली शत्रु सेना को इस प्रकार पराजित करो कि वह दोबारा हम पर आक्रमण न कर सके. हमारे योद्धा शत्रु सेना पर विजय प्राप्त करें तथा विजय सूचक दुंदुभि बजाएं. हमारे सेनानायक घोड़ों पर सवार हो कर युद्ध भूमि में जाएं तथा हमारे अमात्य और राजा विजयी हों. (३)
O Indra! Defeat the enemy army that appears far away in such a way that it cannot attack us again. May our warriors conquer the enemy army and play the victory indicator. Our commanders should ride on horses and go to the battlefield and our amatya and kings should be victorious. (3)
