अथर्ववेद (कांड 6)
यथा॑दि॒त्या वसु॑भिः सम्बभू॒वुर्म॒रुद्भि॑रु॒ग्रा अहृ॑णीयमानाः । ए॒वा त्रि॑णाम॒न्नहृ॑णीयमान इ॒माञ्जना॒न्त्संम॑नसस्कृधी॒ह ॥ (३)
जिस प्रकार अदिति के पुत्र मित्र, वरुण आदि आठ वसुओं के साथ समान ज्ञान वाले हुए, जिस प्रकार उनचास मरुतों के साथ उग्र एवं बलशाली रुद्र क्रोध करते हुए समान ज्ञान वाले हुए, हे तीन नामों अर्थात् पार्थिव, विद्युत और सूर्य अग्नि! तुम क्रोध न करते हुए इन जनों को समान ज्ञान वाला बनाओ. (३)
Just as Aditi's son friend, Varuna etc. were of the same knowledge with the eight Vasus, just as the fierce and powerful Rudra with the forty-nine Maruts became angry and of the same knowledge, O three names i.e. Parthiv, Vidyut and Surya Agni! Do not get angry and make these people of equal knowledge. (3)
