अथर्ववेद (कांड 6)
इ॒मं वी॒रमनु॑ हर्षध्वमु॒ग्रमिन्द्रं॑ सखायो॒ अनु॒ सं र॑भध्वम् । ग्रा॑म॒जितं॑ गो॒जितं॒ वज्र॑बाहुं॒ जय॑न्त॒मज्म॑ प्रमृ॒णन्त॒मोज॑सा ॥ (३)
हे सैनिको! अधिक बलशाली एवं परम ऐश्वर्य युक्त इस वीर राजा की वीरता से प्रसन्न बनो एवं इस के लिए युद्ध हेतु तत्पर रहो. हे मरुतो! गांवों को एवं शत्रुओं की गायों को जीतने वाले तथा हाथ में वज्र धारण करने वाले इंद्र की वीरता से प्रसन्न बनो. इंद्र शत्रुओं को जीतने वाले, जयशील एवं अपने बल से शत्रुओं की हिंसा करने वाले हैं. O soldiers! Be happy with the bravery of this brave king with more strength and ultimate opulence and be ready to fight for it. O Maruto! Be pleased with the bravery of Indra, who conquers the villages and the cows of the enemies and holds a thunderbolt in his hand. Indra is the conqueror of enemies, jaisheel and the one who commits violence against enemies with his own strength. (3)
