अथर्ववेद: | सूक्त: 98
प्राच्या॑ दि॒शस्त्वमि॑न्द्रासि॒ राजो॒तोदी॑च्या दि॒शो वृ॑त्रहञ्छत्रु॒होसि॑ । यत्र॒ यन्ति॑ स्रो॒त्यास्तज्जि॒तं ते॑ दक्षिण॒तो वृ॑ष॒भ ए॑षि॒ हव्यः॑ ॥ (३)
हे इंद्र! तुम पूर्व दिशा के राजा हो. हे वृत्र राक्षस को मारने वाले इंद्र! तुम उत्तर दिशा के भी स्वामी तथा शन्रुओं के हंता हो. हमारी इच्छाएं पूर्ण करने वाले तुम हमारे द्वारा बुलाए जाने पर युद्ध के समय हमारे दक्षिण भाग में वर्तमान रहो. (३)
O Indra! You are the king of the east direction. O Indra who killed the vritra demon! You are also the swami of the north direction and the hantras of the shanrus. Be present in our southern part at the time of war when you are called by us to fulfill our desires. (3)
