अथर्ववेद (कांड 7)
उ॒त प्र॒हामति॑दीवा जयति कृ॒तमि॑व श्व॒घ्नी वि चि॑नोति का॒ले । यो दे॒वका॑मो॒ न धनं॑ रु॒णद्धि॒ समित्तं रा॒यः सृ॑जति स्व॒धाभिः॑ ॥ (६)
अधिक जुआ खेलता हुआ पुरुष अपने विरोधी जुआरी को जीत लेता है, क्योंकि दूसरे का धन हरण करने वाला जुआरी पासे फेंकने से पहले ही उस के अंकों का निश्चय कर लेता है. देवों की कामना करता हुआ जो जुआरी जीत में प्राप्त धन को देव संबंधी कार्यों में लगाता है, उसे इंद्र धनों और अन्‘नों से युक्त करते हैं. (६)
A man gambling more wins his opponent gambler, because the gambler who steals the other's money decides his points before throwing the dice. The gambler who desires the gods, who puts the money received in the victory in god-related works, Indra attaches him with wealth and injustice. (6)
