हम ऋग्वेद और सामवेद को हवि के द्वारा पूजते हैं. यजमान ऋग्वेद और सामवेद के द्वारा यज्ञ कर्म करते हैं. ये दोनों वेद सदस नामक मंडप में शोभा देते हैं तथा यज्ञ को देवों तक पहुंचाते हैं. (१)

मैं ने ऋग्वेद से हवि, सामवेद से ओज और यजुर्वेद से बल के विषय में पूछा था. अर्थात् ऋग्वेद आदि में हवि आदि का अध्ययन किया था. हे शची के पति और व्याकरण के नियम बनाने वाले इंद्र! इस प्रकार सुविचारित ऋग्वेद, सामवेद और यजुर्वेद मुझ अध्यापक के अध्ययनअध्यापन में बाधा न डाल कर मनचाहा फल दें. (२)
