अथर्ववेद: | सूक्त: 15
अ॒नच्छ॑ये तु॒रगा॑तु जी॒वमेज॑द्ध्रु॒वं मध्य॒ आ प॒स्त्यानाम् । जी॒वो मृ॒तस्य॑ चरति स्व॒धाभि॒रम॑र्त्यो॒ मर्त्ये॑ना॒ सयो॑निः ॥ (८)
यमलोक की पीड़ाओं के भय से कांपते हुए प्राणी के हृदय में जीव सांस लेता है. मरणशील जीव अन्य मरणधर्मा प्राणियों का सयोनि अर्थात्‌ समान शरीर वाला है एवं स्वधा का भक्षण करता है. (८)
The creature breathes in the heart of the creature trembling with the fear of the sufferings of Yamlok. The dying creature is the sayoni of other dead creatures i.e. with the same body and eats swadha. (8)
