ऋग्वेद (मंडल 1)
योनि॑ष्ट इन्द्र नि॒षदे॑ अकारि॒ तमा नि षी॑द स्वा॒नो नार्वा॑ । वि॒मुच्या॒ वयो॑ऽव॒सायाश्वा॑न्दो॒षा वस्तो॒र्वही॑यसः प्रपि॒त्वे ॥ (१)
हे इंद्र! तुम्हारे बैठने के लिए जो स्थान बनाया गया है, उस पर हंसते हुए घोड़े के समान आकर शीघ्र बैठो. जो रस्सियां घोड़ों को रथ से बांधती हैं, उन्हें खोलकर घोड़ों को रथ से अलग कर दो, क्योंकि यज्ञकाल आने पर वे घोड़े रात-दिन तुम्हें ढोते हैं. (१)
O Indra! Come and sit down as a horse laughing at the place you have created for you to sit. Open the ropes that bind horses to the chariot and separate the horses from the chariot, because when the yagna period comes, those horses carry you day and night. (1)

ओ त्ये नर॒ इन्द्र॑मू॒तये॑ गु॒र्नू चि॒त्तान्स॒द्यो अध्व॑नो जगम्यात् । दे॒वासो॑ म॒न्युं दास॑स्य श्चम्न॒न्ते न॒ आ व॑क्षन्सुवि॒ताय॒ वर्ण॑म् ॥ (२)
यज्ञ के नेता यजमान की रक्षा की इच्छा से इंद्र के समीप आते हैं और इंद्र उनको उसी समय यज्ञ के अनुष्ठान में लगाते हैं. देवगण असुरों का क्रोध समाप्त करें एवं हमारे यज्ञ के निमित्त इंद्र को लावें. (२)
The leaders of the yajna come close to Indra with the desire to protect the host and Indra puts them in the ritual of yajna at the same time. May the Devas end the anger of the asuras and bring Indra for the sake of our yajna. (2)

अव॒ त्मना॑ भरते॒ केत॑वेदा॒ अव॒ त्मना॑ भरते॒ फेन॑मु॒दन् । क्षी॒रेण॑ स्नातः॒ कुय॑वस्य॒ योषे॑ ह॒ते ते स्या॑तां प्रव॒णे शिफा॑याः ॥ (३)
दूसरों के धन को जानने वाला कुयव असुर स्वयं धन का अपहरण करता है एवं जल में रहकर फेन वाले जल को चुराता है. चुराए हुए जल में स्नान करने वाली कुयव की दो स्त्रियां शिफा नामक नदी के गहरे जल में नष्ट हों. (३)
The Kuyava asura, who knows the wealth of others, himself hijacks the wealth and steals the water that is fennel by staying in the water. Two women of Kuyava who bathe in stolen water were destroyed in the deep waters of the river named Shifa. (3)

यु॒योप॒ नाभि॒रुप॑रस्या॒योः प्र पूर्वा॑भिस्तिरते॒ राष्टि॒ शूरः॑ । अ॒ञ्ज॒सी कु॑लि॒शी वी॒रप॑त्नी॒ पयो॑ हिन्वा॒ना उ॒दभि॑र्भरन्ते ॥ (४)
उदक के मध्य में स्थित एवं दूसरों को परेशान करने के निमित्त इधर-उधर जाने वाले कुयव का स्थान जल में गुप्त था. वह शूर अपहृत जलों से बढ़ता एवं तेजस्वी बनता है. अंजसी, कुलिशी एवं वरिपत्नी नाम की नदियां अपने जल से उसे प्रसन्न करके धारण करती हैं. (४)
The place of the well that was located in the middle of the udak and going around to harass others was hidden in the water. It grows and becomes brighter than the shallow waters abducted. The rivers named Anjasi, Kulishi and Varitrini hold it by pleasing him with their waters. (4)

प्रति॒ यत्स्या नीथाद॑र्शि॒ दस्यो॒रोको॒ नाच्छा॒ सद॑नं जान॒ती गा॑त् । अध॑ स्मा नो मघवञ्चर्कृ॒तादिन्मा नो॑ म॒घेव॑ निष्ष॒पी परा॑ दाः ॥ (५)
अपने बछड़े को जानती हुई गाय जिस प्रकार अपने निवासस्थान में पहुंचती है, उसी प्रकार हमने भी कुयव असुर के घर की ओर जाता हुआ मार्ग देखा है. हे इंद्र! हमारी रक्षा करो, हमें इस प्रकार मत त्यागो, जिस प्रकार दासी का पति धन त्याग देता है. (५)
Just as a cow knowing its calf reaches its abode, we have also seen the path leading to the house of the Kuyava Asura. O Indra! Protect us, do not abandon us in the same way that the maid's husband forsakes wealth. (5)
ऋग्वेद (मंडल 1)
स त्वं न॑ इन्द्र॒ सूर्ये॒ सो अ॒प्स्व॑नागा॒स्त्व आ भ॑ज जीवशं॒से । मान्त॑रां॒ भुज॒मा री॑रिषो नः॒ श्रद्धि॑तं ते मह॒त इ॑न्द्रि॒याय॑ ॥ (६)
हे इंद्र! हमें सूर्य के प्रति, जलों के प्रति एवं पापरहित होने के कारण जीवों द्वारा प्रशंसित मानवों के प्रति भक्त बनाओ. हमारी गर्भस्थ संतान की हिंसा मत करना. हम तुम्हारे महान् बल के प्रति श्रद्धालु हैं. (६)
O Indra! Make us devotees to the sun, to the waters and to the human beings admired by the living beings for being sinless. Don't do violence to our pregnant children. We are reverent to your great power. (6)

अधा॑ मन्ये॒ श्रत्ते॑ अस्मा अधायि॒ वृषा॑ चोदस्व मह॒ते धना॑य । मा नो॒ अकृ॑ते पुरुहूत॒ योना॒विन्द्र॒ क्षुध्य॑द्भ्यो॒ वय॑ आसु॒तिं दाः॑ ॥ (७)
हे इंद्र! हम तुम्हें मन से जानते हैं एवं तुम्हारी शक्ति पर श्रद्धा रखते हैं. हे कामवर्षी! तुम हमें महान् धन के निमित्त प्रेरित करो. हे अनेक यजमानों द्वारा बुलाए गए इंद्र! हमें धनरहित घर में मत रखो तथा अन्य भूखों को अन्न एवं दूध दो. (७)
O Indra! We know you with all our heart and have faith in your power. Oh, yearly! You inspire us for the sake of great wealth. O Indra, who has been called by many hosts! Don't keep us in a house without money and give food and milk to other hungry people. (7)
ऋग्वेद (मंडल 1)
मा नो॑ वधीरिन्द्र॒ मा परा॑ दा॒ मा नः॑ प्रि॒या भोज॑नानि॒ प्र मो॑षीः । आ॒ण्डा मा नो॑ मघवञ्छक्र॒ निर्भे॒न्मा नः॒ पात्रा॑ भेत्स॒हजा॑नुषाणि ॥ (८)
हे इंद्र! हमें मत मारना, हमारा त्याग मत करना एवं हमारे प्रिय उपभोग पदार्थो को मत छीनना. हे धनस्वामी एवं शक्तिशाली इंद्र! हमारे गर्भस्थ एवं घुटने के बल चलने वाले बच्चों को नष्ट मत करो. (८)
O Indra! Don't kill us, don't abandon us, and don't take away our beloved consuming substances. O rich and mighty Indra! Don't destroy our pregnant and kneeling children. (8)
