ऋग्वेद: | सूक्त: 95
उद्यं॑यमीति सवि॒तेव॑ बा॒हू उ॒भे सिचौ॑ यतते भी॒म ऋ॒ञ्जन् । उच्छु॒क्रमत्क॑मजते सि॒मस्मा॒न्नवा॑ मा॒तृभ्यो॒ वस॑ना जहाति ॥ (७)
भयंकर अग्नि सूर्य की भुजा रूपी किरणों के समान अपने तेज को विस्तृत करते एवं धरती-आकाश दोनों को अलंकृत करके उनके काम में लगाते हैं तथा समस्त पदार्थो से तेजस्वी एवं साररूप रस ग्रहण करते हैं. वे अपनी माता रूप जल से सारे संसार को ढकने वाला नवीन तेज बनाते हैं. (७)
Fierce agni expands its brightness like the rays of the sun's arm and embellishes both the earth and the sky and puts them into their work and take the bright and sarform juice from all the substances. They create a new fast covering the whole world with their mother's form of water. (7)
