तम॑स्य॒ द्यावा॑पृथि॒वी सचे॑तसा॒ विश्वे॑भिर्दे॒वैरनु॒ शुष्म॑मावताम् । यदैत्कृ॑ण्वा॒नो म॑हि॒मान॑मिन्द्रि॒यं पी॒त्वी सोम॑स्य॒ क्रतु॑माँ अवर्धत ॥ (१)
द्यावा-पृथिवी सब देशों के साथ मिलकर एकचित्त से इंद्र की शक्ति की रक्षा करें. जब वीरता के कार्य करतेकरते इंद्र ने अपना महत्त्व प्राप्त किया, तब सोमरस पीने वाले एवं कर्मकर्ता इंद्र बढ़े. (१)
The dyava-prithvis should work together with all the countries to protect the power of Indra from the unison. When Indra gained his importance while doing acts of bravery, indra, the somras drinker and the karmakarma, grew up. (1)

तम॑स्य॒ विष्णु॑र्महि॒मान॒मोज॑सां॒शुं द॑ध॒न्वान्मधु॑नो॒ वि र॑प्शते । दे॒वेभि॒रिन्द्रो॑ म॒घवा॑ स॒याव॑भिर्वृ॒त्रं ज॑घ॒न्वाँ अ॑भव॒द्वरे॑ण्यः ॥ (२)
विष्णु ने सोमलता का टुकड़ा देकर उत्साह के साथ इंद्र की उस महिमा की घोषणा की है. धनस्वामी इंद्र ने साथ चलने वाले देवों की सहायता से वृत्र का वध किया और सर्वोत्तम बने. (२)
Vishnu has enthusiastically announced that glory of Indra by giving a piece of Somalata. Dhanaswami Indra killed Vrithra with the help of the gods who walked along and became the best. (2)

वृ॒त्रेण॒ यदहि॑ना॒ बिभ्र॒दायु॑धा स॒मस्थि॑था यु॒धये॒ शंस॑मा॒विदे॑ । विश्वे॑ ते॒ अत्र॑ म॒रुतः॑ स॒ह त्मनाव॑र्धन्नुग्र महि॒मान॑मिन्द्रि॒यम् ॥ (३)
हे उग्र इंद्र! तुम जब युद्ध के लिए आयुध धारण करते हुए मरने योग्य वृत्र के साथ भिड़े तब शौर्य प्रदर्शन के लिए मैंने तुम्हारी प्रशंसा की. उस समय सभी मरुतों ने अपने साथ-साथ तुम्हारी भी महिमा बढ़ाई. (३)
O furious Indra! When you fought with the dying warrior while wearing an armament for war, I praised you for your display of bravery. At that time all the maruts glorified you as well as themselves. (3)

ज॒ज्ञा॒न ए॒व व्य॑बाधत॒ स्पृधः॒ प्राप॑श्यद्वी॒रो अ॒भि पौंस्यं॒ रण॑म् । अवृ॑श्च॒दद्रि॒मव॑ स॒स्यदः॑ सृज॒दस्त॑भ्ना॒न्नाकं॑ स्वप॒स्यया॑ पृ॒थुम् ॥ (४)
इंद्र ने जन्म लेते ही शत्रुओं को बाधा पहुंचाई. वीर इंद्र ने उस संग्राम में अपना पौरुष अधिक रूप में प्रकट किया, वृत्र को काटा, जल बरसाया एवं शोभन कर्म की इच्छा से विस्तृत स्वर्ग को धारण किया. (४)
Indra interrupted the enemies as soon as he was born. Veer Indra manifested his virility in that struggle in a greater form, cut the vritra, poured water and possessed the heaven wide with the desire of shobhan karma. (4)

आदिन्द्रः॑ स॒त्रा तवि॑षीरपत्यत॒ वरी॑यो॒ द्यावा॑पृथि॒वी अ॑बाधत । अवा॑भरद्धृषि॒तो वज्र॑माय॒सं शेवं॑ मि॒त्राय॒ वरु॑णाय दा॒शुषे॑ ॥ (५)
इंद्र सहसा विशाल सेनाओं की ओर दौड़े एवं अपनी उत्तम महिमा से धरती-आकाश को बाधा पहुंचाई. शत्रुवध में प्रगल्भ इंद्र ने मित्र, वरुण एवं हव्य देने वाले यजमान को सुख पहुंचाने के लिए लोहे का बना हुआ वञ्र धारण किया. (५)
Indra usually ran towards the great armies and interrupted the earth and the sky with his fine glory. In the enmity, Pragalbha Indra wore a vanar made of iron to bring happiness to his friend, Varuna and the havan-giving host. (5)

इन्द्र॒स्यात्र॒ तवि॑षीभ्यो विर॒प्शिन॑ ऋघाय॒तो अ॑रंहयन्त म॒न्यवे॑ । वृ॒त्रं यदु॒ग्रो व्यवृ॑श्च॒दोज॑सा॒पो बिभ्र॑तं॒ तम॑सा॒ परी॑वृतम् ॥ (६)
विविध शब्द करने वाले व शत्रुहिंसक इंद्र का क्रोध विशाल शत्रुसेनाओं पर स्थापित करने के लिए जल निकले. उग्र इंद्र ने जल धारण करने वाले और अंधकार से घिरे हुए वृत्र को बलपूर्वक नष्ट किया. (६)
The anger of indra, who had various words and enemies, came out to be watered down to establish his anger on the giant enemy forces. The furious Indra forcefully destroyed the water-holding and surrounded by darkness. (6)

या वी॒र्या॑णि प्रथ॒मानि॒ कर्त्वा॑ महि॒त्वेभि॒र्यत॑मानौ समी॒यतुः॑ । ध्वा॒न्तं तमोऽव॑ दध्वसे ह॒त इन्द्रो॑ म॒ह्ना पू॒र्वहू॑तावपत्यत ॥ (७)
अपनी महान् शक्ति से युद्ध करने वाले इंद्र और वृत्र ने प्रथम करने योग्य जो वीरताएं प्रदर्शित कीं, उनके द्वारा वृत्र के मारे जाने पर घना अंधकार नष्ट हो गया. इंद्र अपनी महिमा से वीरों की गणना में सबसे पहले गिने जाते हैं. (७)
The deep darkness was destroyed when Vritra was killed by Indra and Vritra, who fought with their great power, the heroisms displayed first. Indra is counted first in the reckoning of heroes by his glory. (7)

विश्वे॑ दे॒वासो॒ अध॒ वृष्ण्या॑नि॒ तेऽव॑र्धय॒न्सोम॑वत्या वच॒स्यया॑ । र॒द्धं वृ॒त्रमहि॒मिन्द्र॑स्य॒ हन्म॑ना॒ग्निर्न जम्भै॑स्तृ॒ष्वन्न॑मावयत् ॥ (८)
हे इंद्र! सभी देवों ने सोमयुक्त स्तुति की अभिलाषा से तुम्हारे बलों को बढ़ाया. इंद्र के आयुध वज्र से मारे गए. आवरण करने वाले मेघ ने शीघ्र ही सबको अन्न का भोजन कराया. अग्नि जिस प्रकार अपनी ज्वालाओं से हव्य खाते हैं, उसी प्रकार लोगों ने दांतों से अन्न खाया. (८)
O Indra! All the gods have increased your forces with the desire of somayukta praise. Indra's weapons were killed by thunderbolts. The covering cloud soon served everyone a meal of food. Just as agni eats havya from its flames, so people eat food from their teeth. (8)
