आ जनं॑ त्वे॒षसं॑दृशं॒ माही॑नाना॒मुप॑स्तुतम् । अग॑न्म॒ बिभ्र॑तो॒ नमः॑ ॥ (१)
हम असमाति राजा के दीप्त एवं महान् पुरुषों द्वारा प्रशंसित जनपद में नमस्कार धारण करते हुए गए. (१)
We went to the district of Asmati, admired by the bright and great men of the Asmati king, wearing salutations. (1)

अस॑मातिं नि॒तोश॑नं त्वे॒षं नि॑य॒यिनं॒ रथ॑म् । भ॒जेर॑थस्य॒ सत्प॑तिम् ॥ (२)
हम शत्रुहंता, तेजस्वी, रथ के समान सबकी अभिलाषा पूर्ण करने वाले, भजेरथ को पराजित करने वाले एवं सज्जनपालक राजा असमाति के देश में गए. (२)
We went to the land of flamboyant king Asamati, enemy destroyer, fullfilling everyone's wishes like a chariot, the defeater of Bhajertha. (2)

यो जना॑न्महि॒षाँ इ॑वातित॒स्थौ पवी॑रवान् । उ॒ताप॑वीरवान्यु॒धा ॥ (३)
वे राजा असमाति हाथ में तलवार लें अथवा न लें, पर युद्ध में अपने शत्रुओं को इस प्रकार पराजित कर देते हैं, जिस प्रकार सिंह भैंसों को मार डालता है. (३)
Whether king Asamati take the sword in the hands or not, He defeat his enemies in battle in the same way that the lion kills the buffaloes. (3)
ऋग्वेद (मंडल 10)
यस्ये॑क्ष्वा॒कुरुप॑ व्र॒ते रे॒वान्म॑रा॒य्येध॑ते । दि॒वी॑व॒ पञ्च॑ कृ॒ष्टयः॑ ॥ (४)
जिस जनपद में इक्ष्वाकु राजा धनी, शत्रुसंहारक एवं रक्षाकार्य में नियुक्त होकर बढ़ते हैं, उस जनपद में रहने वाले पंचजन इस प्रकार सुखी होकर उन्नति करते हैं, जिस प्रकार स्वर्ग में रहने वाले बढ़ते हैं. (४)
In the district where the Ikshvaku king grows up as a appointee in the work of wealthy, enemy destroyers and protectors, the Panchjans living in that district progress by being happy in such a way as those living in heaven grow. (4)
ऋग्वेद (मंडल 10)
इन्द्र॑ क्ष॒त्रास॑मातिषु॒ रथ॑प्रोष्ठेषु धारय । दि॒वी॑व॒ सूर्यं॑ दृ॒शे ॥ (५)
हे इंद्र! जिस प्रकार तुमने सूर्य को सबके दर्शन के लिए आकाश में स्थित किया है, उसी प्रकार वीरों को रथारूढ़ राजा असमाति का अनुगमन करने के लिए प्रेरित करो. (५)
O Indra! Just as you have placed the sun in the sky for the sight of all, so inspire the heroes to follow the charioteered king Asmati. (5)

अ॒गस्त्य॑स्य॒ नद्भ्यः॒ सप्ती॑ युनक्षि॒ रोहि॑ता । प॒णीन्न्य॑क्रमीर॒भि विश्वा॑न्राजन्नरा॒धसः॑ ॥ (६)
हे राजा असमाति! तुम अगस्त्य ऋषि को प्रसन्न करने वाले बांधवों के लिए धनप्राप्ति हेतु लाल रंग के घोड़ों को रथ में जोड़ो. तुम यज्ञ न करने वाले एवं लोभी पणियों को भली प्रकार हराओ. (६)
O King, Assamese! You add red horses to the chariot to get money for the brothers who please the sage Agastya. You defeat the non-sacrificing and greedy people well. (6)
ऋग्वेद (मंडल 10)
अ॒यं मा॒तायं पि॒तायं जी॒वातु॒राग॑मत् । इ॒दं तव॑ प्र॒सर्प॑णं॒ सुब॑न्ध॒वेहि॒ निरि॑हि ॥ (७)
हे सुबंधु! जो अग्नि आए हैं, वे ही तुम्हारे माता, पिता एवं जीवनदाता हैं. तुम्हारा शरीर यही है. इस में स्थित होओ. (७)
O brother! Those who have come to the agni are your mother, father and life-giver. That's what your body is. Be located in this. (7)
ऋग्वेद (मंडल 10)
यथा॑ यु॒गं व॑र॒त्रया॒ नह्य॑न्ति ध॒रुणा॑य॒ कम् । ए॒वा दा॑धार ते॒ मनो॑ जी॒वात॑वे॒ न मृ॒त्यवेऽथो॑ अरि॒ष्टता॑तये ॥ (८)
जिस प्रकार रथ को धारण करने के लिए जुआ रस्सियों से बांधा जाता है, उसी प्रकार अग्नि ने जीवित रहने, अविनाशी बनने एवं मृत्यु से दूर रहने के लिए तुम्हारे मन को धारण कर लिया है. (८)
Just as the chariot is tied with gambling ropes to hold, so the agni has taken your mind to survive, to become indestructible, and to stay away from death. (8)
