ऋग्वेद (मंडल 7)
इन्द्रा॑सोमा॒ तप॑तं॒ रक्ष॑ उ॒ब्जतं॒ न्य॑र्पयतं वृषणा तमो॒वृधः॑ । परा॑ शृणीतम॒चितो॒ न्यो॑षतं ह॒तं नु॒देथां॒ नि शि॑शीतम॒त्रिणः॑ ॥ (१)
हे इंद्र तथा सोम! तुम राक्षसों को कष्ट दो तथा उनको नष्ट करो. हे अभिलाषापूरको! तुम अंधकार में बढ़ने वाले राक्षसों को नीचे गिराओ. तुम अज्ञानी राक्षसों को परांगमुख करके नष्ट करो, जलाओ, मारो, फेंक दो एवं मनुष्यभक्षी राक्षसों को घायल करो. (१)
O Indra and Som! You torment the demons and destroy them. That's all you want! You bring down the monsters growing in darkness. You destroy the ignorant demons, burn them, kill them, throw them away, and injure the man-eating monsters. (1)

इन्द्रा॑सोमा॒ सम॒घशं॑सम॒भ्य१॒॑घं तपु॑र्ययस्तु च॒रुर॑ग्नि॒वाँ इ॑व । ब्र॒ह्म॒द्विषे॑ क्र॒व्यादे॑ घो॒रच॑क्षसे॒ द्वेषो॑ धत्तमनवा॒यं कि॑मी॒दिने॑ ॥ (२)
हे इंद्र एवं सोम! तुम पाप की प्रशंसा करने वाले राक्षसों को भली प्रकार नष्ट करो. तुम अपने तेज द्वारा संतप्त राक्षसों को इस प्रकार समाप्त कर दो, जिस प्रकार अन्ने में डाला हुआ चरु लुप्त हो जाता है. ब्राहमणों से द्वेष रखने वाले, मांसभक्षक, डरावने नेत्रों वाले एवं कठोरभाषी राक्षसों के प्रति ऐसा व्यवहार करो, जिससे उनके प्रति तुम्हारा सदा द्वेष रहे. (२)
O Indra and Mon! You must destroy the demons who praise sin well. You put an end to the demons infected by your speed in such a way that the charu poured into the ann disappears. Treat the Brahmins with malice, the meat-eater, the scary-eyed, and the harsh-spoken demons in such a way that you will always have an antipathy towards them. (2)

इन्द्रा॑सोमा दु॒ष्कृतो॑ व॒व्रे अ॒न्तर॑नारम्भ॒णे तम॑सि॒ प्र वि॑ध्यतम् । यथा॒ नातः॒ पुन॒रेक॑श्च॒नोदय॒त्तद्वा॑मस्तु॒ सह॑से मन्यु॒मच्छवः॑ ॥ (३)
हे इंद्र एवं सोम! तुम बुरे कर्म करने वाले राक्षसों को वारक मरुस्थल एवं आश्रयहीन अंधकार में फेंक कर मारो, जिससे एक भी राक्षस जीवित न उठ सके. क्रोधयुक्त तुम्हारा वह प्रसिद्ध बल राक्षसों को दबाने में समर्थ हो. (३)
O Indra and Mon! You kill the demons who do evil deeds by throwing them into the wark desert and shelterless darkness, so that not a single monster can come alive. That famous force of angry yours be able to suppress the demons. (3)
ऋग्वेद (मंडल 7)
इन्द्रा॑सोमा व॒र्तय॑तं दि॒वो व॒धं सं पृ॑थि॒व्या अ॒घशं॑साय॒ तर्ह॑णम् । उत्त॑क्षतं स्व॒र्यं१॒॑ पर्व॑तेभ्यो॒ येन॒ रक्षो॑ वावृधा॒नं नि॒जूर्व॑थः ॥ (४)
हे इंद्र एवं सोम! तुम अंतरिक्ष से हननसाधन आयुध उत्पन्न करो. पापों की प्रशंसा करने वाले के लिए तुम धरती से आयुध उत्पन्न करो. तुम बादलों से उस घातक वज्र को उत्पन्न करो जिसने बढ़े हुए राक्षस को नष्ट किया था. (४)
O Indra and Mon! You generate the contravenive armament from space. For those who praise sins, you create an armament from the earth. You generate from the clouds the deadly thunderbolt that destroyed the enlarged monster. (4)
ऋग्वेद (मंडल 7)
इन्द्रा॑सोमा व॒र्तय॑तं दि॒वस्पर्य॑ग्नित॒प्तेभि॑र्यु॒वमश्म॑हन्मभिः । तपु॑र्वधेभिर॒जरे॑भिर॒त्रिणो॒ नि पर्शा॑ने विध्यतं॒ यन्तु॑ निस्व॒रम् ॥ (५)
हे इंद्र एवं सोम! अंतरिक्ष के चारों ओर आयुधों को भेजो. तुम अग्नि के द्वारा तपाए हुए, संतापदायक, प्रहार वाले, जरारहित एवं पत्थरों से निर्मित हननसाधन आयुधों द्वारा राक्षसों के आसपास के स्थान विदीर्ण करो. इससे वे राक्षस चुपचाप भाग जाएंगे. (५)
O Indra and Mon! Send armaments around the space. You may destroy the places around the demons by agni, torturous, attacked, unarmed and made of stones by the weapons of the destruction. This will cause those monsters to flee silently. (5)
ऋग्वेद (मंडल 7)
इन्द्रा॑सोमा॒ परि॑ वां भूतु वि॒श्वत॑ इ॒यं म॒तिः क॒क्ष्याश्वे॑व वा॒जिना॑ । यां वां॒ होत्रां॑ परिहि॒नोमि॑ मे॒धये॒मा ब्रह्मा॑णि नृ॒पती॑व जिन्वतम् ॥ (६)
हे इंद्र एवं सोम! जिस प्रकार दोनों ओर बंधी हुई रस्सी घोड़े को बांधती है, उसी प्रकार यह स्तुति तुम्हें प्रभावित करे. मैं बुद्धिबल से यह स्तुति तुम्हारे पास भेज रहा हूं. राजा जिस प्रकार धन से मांगने वाले की इच्छा पूरी करता है, उसी प्रकार तुम इस स्तुति को सफल बनाओ. (६)
O Indra and Mon! Just as a rope tied on both sides binds a horse, so may this praise impress you. I am sending this praise to you wisely. Just as the king fulfills the will of the one who asks for wealth, so do you make this praise a success. (6)

प्रति॑ स्मरेथां तु॒जय॑द्भि॒रेवै॑र्ह॒तं द्रु॒हो र॒क्षसो॑ भङ्गु॒राव॑तः । इन्द्रा॑सोमा दु॒ष्कृते॒ मा सु॒गं भू॒द्यो नः॑ क॒दा चि॑दभि॒दास॑ति द्रु॒हा ॥ (७)
हे इंद्र एवं सोम! तुम शीघ्र चलने वाले घोड़ों की सहायता से आओ. तुम द्रोही एवं तोड़फोड़ करने वाले राक्षसों को नष्ट करो. दुष्कर्म वाले राक्षस को सुख प्राप्त न हो. वह द्रोहभावना के कारण हमें कभी न कभी मार सकता है. (७)
O Indra and Mon! You come with the help of quick-moving horses. You destroy the evil and sabotaging monsters. The demon of rape should not get happiness. He can kill us at some point of time because of malice. (7)

यो मा॒ पाके॑न॒ मन॑सा॒ चर॑न्तमभि॒चष्टे॒ अनृ॑तेभि॒र्वचो॑भिः । आप॑ इव का॒शिना॒ संगृ॑भीता॒ अस॑न्न॒स्त्वास॑त इन्द्र व॒क्ता ॥ (८)
हे इंद्र! जो राक्षस मुझ सच्चे मन एवं आचरण वाले को असत्यवादी कहता है, वह झूठ बोलने वाला राक्षस इस प्रकार नष्ट हो जाए, जिस प्रकार मुट्ठी में बंद पानी समाप्त हो जाता है. (८)
O Indra! The demon who calls me a true-minded man and a liar, the false demon will be destroyed in such a way that the water in the fist ceases. (8)
