सामवेद (अध्याय 1)
परि वाजपतिः कविरग्निर्हव्यान्यक्रमीत् । दधद्रत्नानि दाशुषे ॥ (१०)
हे अग्नि! आप सर्वज्ञ व अन्रों के स्वामी हैं. आप हवि के रूप में दिए गए पदार्थों को स्वीकार करते हैं. उन हवियों को व्याप्त करते हैं यानी देवताओं तक पहुंचाते हैं. आप दानशील लोगों को धनधान्य प्रदान करते हैं. (१०)
O agni! You are omniscient and the master of the anrons. You accept the substances given as havi. They pervade those havis, that is, they convey them to the gods. You provide wealth to charitable people. (10)
