यजुर्वेद (अध्याय 17)
प्राची॒मनु॑ प्र॒दिशं॒ प्रेहि॑ वि॒द्वान॒ग्नेर॑ग्ने पु॒रोऽअ॑ग्निर्भवे॒ह। विश्वा॒ऽआशा॒ दीद्या॑नो॒ वि भा॒ह्यूर्जं॑ नो धेहि द्वि॒पदे॒ चतु॑ष्पदे ॥ (६६)
हे अग्नि! आप पूर्व दिशा का अनुकरण कीजिए. आप अग्रगामी होइए. आप सब का नेतृत्व कीजिए. आप विद्वान् और सब की आस हैं. आप अपनी चमकीली लपटों से सभी दिशाओं को चमकाइए. आप दोपायों तथा चौपायों सभी के लिए बल धारिए. (६६)
O agni! You follow the east direction. You be the pioneer. Lead you all. You are a scholar and hope for all. You shine in all directions with your bright flames. You force all the two and four steps. (66)
