यजुर्वेद (अध्याय 17)
अग्ने॒ प्रेहि॑ प्रथ॒मो दे॑वय॒तां चक्षु॑र्दे॒वाना॑मु॒त मर्त्या॑नाम्। इय॑क्षमाणा॒ भृगु॑भिः स॒जोषाः॒ स्वर्य्यन्तु॒ यज॑मानाः स्व॒स्ति ॥ (६९)
हे अग्नि! आप प्रथम प्रार्थित हैं. आप मनुष्यों और देवताओं के चक्षु स्वरूप और सब के पथ प्रदर्शक हैं. यज्ञ के इच्छुकों के पापनाशक हैं. आप ऐसे यजमानों को अपनी ज्योति से प्रकाशित करते हैं. उन का कल्याण करते हैं. (६९)
O agni! You are the first applicant. You are the eye-opener of men and gods and the guide of all. They are the sinners of those who want yajna. You illuminate such hosts with your light. welfare them. (69)
