अथर्ववेद: | सूक्त: 1
दे॑वैन॒सात्पित्र्या॑न्नामग्रा॒हात्सं॑दे॒श्यादभि॒निष्कृ॑तात् । मु॒ञ्चन्तु॑ त्वा वी॒रुधो॑ वीर्येण॒ ब्रह्म॑णा ऋ॒ग्भिः पय॑स॒ ऋषी॑णाम् ॥ (१२)
देवों के प्रति किए गए पाप से, पितरों का नाम लेने के पाप से, अपमानित करने से और अपशब्द कहने के पाप से ये जड़ीबूटियां ब्राह्मणों के मंत्र बल के द्वारा एवं ऋषियों के तपोबल के द्वारा हमें छुड़ाएं. (१२)
May these herbs rescue us from the sin committed against the gods, from the sin of naming the fathers, from the sin of insulting and abusing us through the mantra strength of the Brahmins and the penance of the sages. (12)
