अथर्ववेद: | सूक्त: 9
उच्छि॑ष्टे॒ नाम॑ रू॒पं चोच्छि॑ष्टे लो॒क आहि॑तः । उच्छि॑ष्ट॒ इन्द्र॑श्चा॒ग्निश्च॒ विश्व॑म॒न्तः स॒माहि॑तम् ॥ (१)
उच्छिष्ट अर्थात्‌ होम के बाद बचे हुए भात में नाम और रूप वाला विश्व स्थित है. इस उच्छिष्ट में पृथ्वी आदि सभी लोक स्थित हैं. उच्छिष्ट ही इंद्र और अग्ने हैं. होम के बाद शेष बचे हुए इस भात में ईश्वर ने सारा जगत्‌ स्थापित किया है. (१)
The world with name and form is located in the remaining rice after Uchishta i.e. Home. All the worlds like earth etc. are located in this uchishta. The uchishtas are Indra and Agni. After the home, God has established the whole world in this remaining rice. (1)
