अथर्ववेद (कांड 19)
मा न॑ आपो मे॒धां मा ब्रह्म॒ प्र म॑थिष्टन । सु॑ष्य॒दा यू॒यं स्य॑न्दध्व॒मुप॑हूतो॒ऽहं सु॒मेधा॑ वर्च॒स्वी ॥ (२)
हे जल देवता! तुम मेरी बुद्धि को भ्रष्ट मत करो. ब्रह्मा मेरे द्वारा अध्ययन किए गए वेद को भ्रष्ट न करें. मेरा जो जो कर्म सूख रहा है अर्थात् नष्ट हो रहा है, उसे लक्ष्य बना कर तुम सभी ओर से उसे गीला बनाओ अर्थात् सुरक्षित करो. आप सभी की अनुमति से मैं उत्तम बुद्धि वाला बनूं तथा ब्रह्म के तेज से युक्त हो जाऊं. O God of water! Don't you corrupt my intellect. Brahma, don't corrupt the Vedas I have studied. By targeting my karma which is drying up, that is, being destroyed, make it wet from all sides, that is, protect it. With the permission of all of you, I should become with good intelligence and become full of the glory of Brahman. (2)
