हे अग्नि देव! तुम यज्ञ के साधन के रूप में गार्हपत्य आदि यज्ञशालाओं में वर्तमान हो. जिस प्रकार घोड़े को घास दी जाती है, उसी प्रकार तुम्हारे लिए हम यह खाने योग्य हवि रातदिन प्रदान करते हुए अन्न और धन से प्रसन्न होते हुए तुम्हारा सामीप्य प्राप्त करें तथा हमें नाश की प्राप्ति न हो. (१)
O God of Agni! You are present in yagyashalas like Garhapatya etc. as a means of yajna. Just as grass is given to a horse, in the same way, we should provide this edible food and night and day for you, please with food and money and get your proximity and we do not get destruction. (1)
हे निवास करने वाले अग्नि देव! तुम्हारी तथा अन्य देवों की जो कृपामयी बुद्धि है, अपनी इस बुद्धि से हमारी रक्षा करो. धन और अन्न से प्रसन्न होते हुए हम तुम्हारा सामीप्य प्राप्त करें और हम नाश को प्राप्त न हों. (२)
O God of agni! Protect us with this wisdom of yours, which is the kind intellect of you and other gods. Pleased with wealth and food, let us get close to you and we should not get to destruction. (2)
गृहपति द्वारा आधान की गई अग्नि सायं और प्रातः तथा सभी कालों में सुख को देने वाली हो. हे अग्नि! तुम सभी प्रकार के धनों को देने वाली बनो. तुम्हें हवि के द्वारा प्रदीप्त करते हुए हम पुत्र, मित्र आदि सभी के शरीरों को पुष्ट करें. (३)
The agni offered by the housewife should give happiness in the evening and morning and in all times. O agni! You be the giver of all kinds of wealth. Let us strengthen the bodies of sons, friends, etc. by illuminating you with Havi. (3)
हे गृहपति द्वारा आधान की गई अग्नि! तुम सायं और प्रातः हमें सुख देने वाली बनो. हे धन प्रदान करने वाली अग्नि! तुम वृद्धि प्रदान करो. हम तुम्हें हवि द्वारा दीप्त करते हुए सौ वर्ष तक जीवित रहें. (४)
O agni extinguished by the housekeeper! May you be the giver of happiness in the evening and in the morning. O agni that gives wealth! You provide growth. May we live for a hundred years, lighting you up by eve. (4)
बटलोई के निचले भाग में जले हुए भोजन को प्राप्त करने वाला मैं न बनूं. तात्पर्य यह है कि मैं अधिक भोजन प्राप्त करूं. अन्न प्रदान करने वाले अग्नि और अन्न के स्वामी रुद्र के लिए नमस्कार है. हे सभा के योग्य अग्नि! तुम मेरी सभा अर्थात् पुत्र, मित्र, पशु आदि के समूह की रक्षा करो. जो उस समूह में स्थित रहने वाले हैं, हे अग्नि देव! उन की रक्षा करो. (५)
I should not be the one who receives burnt food at the bottom of the batloi. The implication is that I get more food. Salutations to Rudra, the swami of agni and food, who provides food. O agni worthy of assembly! You protect my assembly i.e. the group of sons, friends, animals, etc. Those who are going to live in that group, O Agni Dev! Protect them. (5)
हे बहुतों के द्वारा आह्वान किए गए इंद्र और ऐश्वर्य वाले अग्नि! तुम हमें संपूर्ण अन्न और जीवन प्राप्त कराओ. बंधे हुए घोड़े को जिस प्रकार घास प्राप्त कराई जाती है, उसी प्रकार तुम्हें प्रतिदिन हवि प्रदान करते हुए हम पूर्ण आयु प्राप्त करें. (६)
O Agni of Indra and opulence invoked by many! You give us complete food and life. Just as the tied horse is given grass, in the same way, we should get full life by giving you a week. (6)
