ऋग्वेद: | सूक्त: 87
प्रैषा॒मज्मे॑षु विथु॒रेव॑ रेजते॒ भूमि॒र्यामे॑षु॒ यद्ध॑ यु॒ञ्जते॑ शु॒भे । ते क्री॒ळयो॒ धुन॑यो॒ भ्राज॑दृष्टयः स्व॒यं म॑हि॒त्वं प॑नयन्त॒ धूत॑यः ॥ (३)
जिस समय मरुद्गण शोभन जल की वर्षा के लिए बादलों को तैयार करते हैं, उस समय उठे हुए बादलों को देखकर धरती उसी प्रकार कांप उठती है, जिस प्रकार पतिविहीना नारी राजा आदि के उपद्रवों को देखकर कांपती है. इस प्रकार विहारशील, चंचल स्वभाव एवं चमकीले आयुधों वाले मरुद्गण पर्वत आदि को कंपित करके अपना महत्त्व प्रकट करते हैं. At the time when the deserts prepare the clouds for the rain of shobhan water, the earth trembles at the same time as the husbandless woman trembles at the sight of the disturbances of the king, etc. Thus, the deserts with a wandering, playful nature and bright arms, express their importance by vibrating the mountains, etc. (3)
