ऋग्वेद (मंडल 10)
जनि॑ष्ठा उ॒ग्रः सह॑से तु॒राय॑ म॒न्द्र ओजि॑ष्ठो बहु॒लाभि॑मानः । अव॑र्ध॒न्निन्द्रं॑ म॒रुत॑श्चि॒दत्र॑ मा॒ता यद्वी॒रं द॒धन॒द्धनि॑ष्ठा ॥ (१)
गर्भ धारण करने वाली इंद्र की माता ने जिस इंद्र को जन्म दिया, उस समय मरुतों ने वीर इंद्र की प्रशंसा इस प्रकार की-“तुम शक्तिप्रदर्शन और शत्रुनाश के लिए उत्पन्न हुए हो. बुम प्रशंसनीय, ओजस्वी एवं अधिक अभिमानी हो.” (१)
At the time of indra, the mother of indra who conceived gave birth to, the maruts praised the heroic indra as follows: "You were born for the show of power and the destruction of enmity. "Bum be praiseworthy, energetic and more arrogant." (1)

द्रु॒हो निष॑त्ता पृश॒नी चि॒देवैः॑ पु॒रू शंसे॑न वावृधु॒ष्ट इन्द्र॑म् । अ॒भीवृ॑तेव॒ ता म॑हाप॒देन॑ ध्वा॒न्तात्प्र॑पि॒त्वादुद॑रन्त॒ गर्भाः॑ ॥ (२)
मरुतों के साथ-साथ इंद्र की सेना भी इंद्र के समीप बैठी है. मरुतों ने विशाल स्तोत्रों दवारा इंद्र को बढ़ाया. जिस प्रकार बंद गोष्ठ के खुलने पर गाएं बाहर निकलती हैं, उसी प्रकार अंधकाररूप मेघ के भीतर से वर्षा का जल बाहर निकला. (२)
Along with the Maruts, Indra's army is also sitting near Indra. The Maruts extended indra to the vast hymns. Just as the cows come out when the closed seminar opens, so the rainwater came out from within the dark cloud. (2)

ऋ॒ष्वा ते॒ पादा॒ प्र यज्जिगा॒स्यव॑र्ध॒न्वाजा॑ उ॒त ये चि॒दत्र॑ । त्वमि॑न्द्र सालावृ॒कान्स॒हस्र॑मा॒सन्द॑धिषे अ॒श्विना व॑वृत्याः ॥ (३)
हे इंद्र! तुम्हारे चरण महान् हैं. तुम जिस समय चलते हो, उस समय ऋभुगण एवं वहां उपस्थित देव बढ़ते हैं. तुम हजार भेड़ियों को मुख में धारण करते हो तथा अश्चिनीकुमारों को घुमा सकते हो. (३)
O Indra! Your feet are great. At the time you walk, the sages and the gods present there grow. You hold a thousand wolves in your mouth and you can turn the ashchinakumaras. (3)
ऋग्वेद (मंडल 10)
स॒म॒ना तूर्णि॒रुप॑ यासि य॒ज्ञमा नास॑त्या स॒ख्याय॑ वक्षि । व॒साव्या॑मिन्द्र धारयः स॒हस्रा॒श्विना॑ शूर ददतुर्म॒घानि॑ ॥ (४)
हे इंद्र! संग्राम की जल्दी होने पर भी तुम यज्ञ में जाते हो. उस समय तुम अश्चेनीकुमारों की मित्रता धारण करते हो. हे शूर इंद्र! उस समय तुम हमारे लिए हजार धन धारण करते हो. अश्विनीकुमार हमारे लिए धन दें. (४)
O Indra! Even when the struggle is in a hurry, you go to the yagna. At that time you are friends with the Ashchenikumars. O Shur Indra! At that time you hold a thousand riches for us. Ashwinikumar give us money. (4)

मन्द॑मान ऋ॒तादधि॑ प्र॒जायै॒ सखि॑भि॒रिन्द्र॑ इषि॒रेभि॒रर्थ॑म् । आभि॒र्हि मा॒या उप॒ दस्यु॒मागा॒न्मिहः॒ प्र त॒म्रा अ॑वप॒त्तमां॑सि ॥ (५)
इंद्र यज्ञ में अपने मित्र मरुतों के साथ प्रसन्न होते हुए यजमान के लिए धन देते हैं. इंद्र ने यजमानों के निमित्त असुरों की माया को समाप्त किया, वर्षा की तथा अंधकार को नष्ट किया. (५)
Indra gives money for the host in the yagna while being pleased with his friends maruts. Indra ended the maya of the asuras for the sake of the hosts, destroyed the rain and the darkness. (5)

सना॑माना चिद्ध्वसयो॒ न्य॑स्मा॒ अवा॑ह॒न्निन्द्र॑ उ॒षसो॒ यथानः॑ । ऋ॒ष्वैर॑गच्छः॒ सखि॑भि॒र्निका॑मैः सा॒कं प्र॑ति॒ष्ठा हृद्या॑ जघन्थ ॥ (६)
इंद्र ने वृत्र को मारने के लिए समान नाम वाले शत्रुओं को नष्ट किया. इंद्र ने उषा की गाड़ी के समान ही वृत्र को न्ट किया. इंद्र दीप्त व वृत्रवध के इच्छुक अपने मित्र मरुतों के साथ वृत्र को मारने गए. हे इंद्र! तुमने शत्रुओं के सुंदर शरीर को न्ट किया. (६)
Indra destroyed enemies with the same name to kill Vritra. Indra sent the vritra just like Usha's car. Indra, who was happy to die and vrithravad, went to kill Vrittar with his friends Maruts. O Indra! You have put on the beautiful body of the enemies. (6)

त्वं ज॑घन्थ॒ नमु॑चिं मख॒स्युं दासं॑ कृण्वा॒न ऋष॑ये॒ विमा॑यम् । त्वं च॑कर्थ॒ मन॑वे स्यो॒नान्प॒थो दे॑व॒त्राञ्ज॑सेव॒ याना॑न् ॥ (७)
हे इंद्र! नमुचि राक्षस तुम्हारे धन की अभिलाषा करता था, इसलिए तुमने उसे मार डाला. तुमने मनु के सामने घातक असुर नमुचि को मायाविहीन किया. तुमने मनु के चलने के लिए मार्ग सुरक्षित कर दिया. वे मार्ग सरलता से देवलोक में जाते हैं. (७)
O Indra! The namuchi monster used to desire your wealth, so you killed him. You made the deadly asura Namuchi mayaless in front of Manu. You have secured the way for Manu to walk. Those paths easily go to Devaloka. (7)

त्वमे॒तानि॑ पप्रिषे॒ वि नामेशा॑न इन्द्र दधिषे॒ गभ॑स्तौ । अनु॑ त्वा दे॒वाः शव॑सा मदन्त्यु॒परि॑बुध्नान्व॒निन॑श्चकर्थ ॥ (८)
हे इंद्र! तुम इस संसार को जल से पूर्ण करते हो तथा सबके स्वामी बनकर हाथ में वज्र धारण करते हो. तुम शक्तिसंपन्न हो. सभी देव तुम्हारी स्तुति करते हैं. तुम बादलों का मुख नीचे की ओर करते हो. (८)
O Indra! You complete this world with water and become the master of all and hold a thunderbolt in your hand. You are powerful. All gods praise you. You face the clouds downwards. (8)
