अथर्ववेद (कांड 20)
उदु॒ ब्रह्मा॑ण्यैरत श्रव॒स्येन्द्रं॑ सम॒र्ये म॑हया वसिष्ठ । आ यो विश्वा॑नि॒ शव॑सा त॒तानो॑पश्रो॒ता म॒ ईव॑तो॒ वचां॑सि ॥ (१)
हे ऋत्विजो! तुम अन्न प्राप्ति की इच्छा से स्तोत्रों का उच्चारण करो. हे यजमान वसिष्ठ! अपने ऋत्विजों के साथ हवि आदि साधनों से इष्टदेव की पूजा करो. जिस इंद्र ने अपने बल से सभी प्राणियों का विस्तार किया है, वे इंद्र परिचर्या करते हुए मुझ वसिष्ठ के वचनों को यहां आ कर सुने. (१)
O Ritvijo! You should recite the stotras with the desire to get food. O host, Vasishtha! Worship the presiding deity with your ritvijas and other means. Indra, who has expanded all beings with his strength, came here and listened to the words of me Vasishtha while taking care of Indra. (1)
अथर्ववेद (कांड 20)
अया॑मि॒ घोष॑ इन्द्र दे॒वजा॑मिरिर॒ज्यन्त॒ यच्छु॒रुधो॒ विवा॑चि । न॒हि स्वमायु॑श्चिकि॒ते जने॑षु॒ तानीदंहां॒स्यति॑ पर्ष्य॒स्मान् ॥ (२)
हे इंद्र! मैं उस स्तोत्र का उच्चारण करता हूं जो देवों को बंधु के समान प्रिय है. इस स्तोत्र के द्वारा उस सोम की वृद्धि होती है जो यजमान को स्वर्ग का फल देने वाला है. मनुष्यों के मध्य रहने वाला यह यजमान अपनी आयु नहीं जानता है. हमें इतनी दीर्घ आयु प्रदान करो, जिस से यह तुम्हारे लिए यज्ञ आदि का अनुष्ठान कर सके. आयु का नाश करने वाले जो पाप हैं, उन्हें इस से दूर रखो. (२)
O Indra! I recite the hymn that is dear to the gods as a brother. Through this hymn, there is an increase in the soma that is going to give the fruit of heaven to the host. This host living among humans does not know his age. Give us such a long life that it can perform the ritual of sacrifice etc. for you. Keep away from this the sins that destroy life. (2)

यु॒जे रथं॑ ग॒वेष॑णं॒ हरि॑भ्या॒मुप॒ ब्रह्मा॑णि जुजुषा॒णम॑स्थुः । वि बा॑धिष्ट॒ स्य रोद॑सी महि॒त्वेन्द्रो॑ वृ॒त्राण्य॑प्र॒ती ज॑घ॒न्वान् ॥ (३)
इंद्र गौओं को प्राप्त कराने वाले अपने रथ में हरि नाम के अश्चों को जोड़ते हैं. हमारे स्तोत्र सभी के द्वारा सेवा किए जाते हुए इंद्र को प्राप्त होते हैं. इंद्र ने अपनी महिमा से धरती और आकाश को आक्रांत किया है. इंद्र ने अपने शत्रुओं अर्थात् वृत्र आदि राक्षसों को इस प्रकार मारा है कि वे शेष नहीं रहे हैं. (३)
Indra adds ashchas named Hari to his chariot, which receives cows. Our hymns are received by Indra while being served by all. Indra has invaded the earth and the sky with his glory. Indra has killed his enemies i.e. vritra etc. demons in such a way that they are not remaining. (3)

आप॑श्चित्पिप्यु स्त॒र्यो॒ न गावो॒ नक्ष॑न्नृ॒तं ज॑रि॒तार॑स्त इन्द्र । या॒हि वा॒युर्न नि॒युतो॑ नो॒ अच्छा॒ त्वं हि धी॒भिर्दय॑से॒ वि वाजा॑न् ॥ (४)
हे इंद्र! यह निचोड़ा गया सोमरस गायों के समान वृद्धि को प्राप्त हो रहा है. हे इंद्र! तुम्हारी स्तुति करने वाले ऋत्विज् यज्ञमंडप में पहुंच चुके हैं, इसलिए तुम हमारे स्तोत्र को सुनने के लिए आओ. वायु देव यज्ञस्थलों में जाने के लिए जिस प्रकार अपने अश्वों की ओर जाते हैं, तुम भी उसी प्रकार संतुष्ट हो कर हमें अन्न देने के लिए आओ. (४)
O Indra! It is achieving the same growth as squeezed somerous cows. O Indra! Those who praise you have reached the Ritvij Yagyamandapa, so you come to listen to our stotra. Just as vayu dev goes towards his horses to go to the yajna places, you should also be satisfied and come to give us food. (4)
अथर्ववेद (कांड 20)
ते त्वा॒ मदा॑ इन्द्र मादयन्तु शु॒ष्मिणं॑ तुवि॒राध॑सं जरि॒त्रे । एको॑ देव॒त्रा दय॑से॒ हि मर्ता॑न॒स्मिन्छू॑र॒ सव॑ने मादयस्व ॥ (५)
हे इंद्र! संस्कार किए गए सोम तुम्हें मदयुक्त करें. तुम बलशाली और स्तोताओं को अधिक धन देने वाले हो. देवों के मध्य अकेले तुम्हीं ऐसे हो जो मनुष्यों पर दया करते हो. हे इंद्र! इस यज्ञ में मनचाहा फल दे कर हमें प्रसन्न करो. (५)
O Indra! May the rites of soma make you drunk. You are powerful and give more money to the psalmists. Among the gods, you are the only one who has mercy on human beings. O Indra! Please us by giving you the desired results in this yajna. (5)
अथर्ववेद (कांड 20)
ए॒वेदिन्द्रं॒ वृष॑णं॒ वज्र॑बाहुं॒ वसि॑ष्ठासो अ॒भ्यर्चन्त्य॒र्कैः । स न॑ स्तु॒तो वी॒रव॑द्धातु॒ गोम॑द्यू॒यं पा॑त स्व॒स्तिभिः॒ सदा॑ नः ॥ (६)
वसिष्ठ कुल के ऋषि कामनाओं की वर्षा करने वाले और हाथ में वज्र धारण करने वाले इंद्र की पूजा स्तोत्रों से करते हैं. वे इंद्र हमारे स्तोत्रों के द्वारा पूजित हो कर हमें पुत्रों एवं गायों से युक्त धन प्रदान करें. हे देवो! आप भी इंद्र का अनुकरण करते हुए क्षेमों से सदा हमारी रक्षा करें. (६)
The sages of the Vasishtha clan worship Indra, who showers wishes and holds vajra in his hand, with stotras. May indra be worshiped through our stotras and give us wealth with sons and cows. O God! You should also always protect us from the curses while following Indra. (6)
अथर्ववेद (कांड 20)
ऋ॑जी॒षी व॒ज्री वृ॑ष॒भस्तु॑रा॒षाट्छु॒ष्मी राजा॑ वृत्र॒हा सो॑म॒पावा॑ । यु॒क्त्वा हरि॑भ्या॒मुप॑ यासद॒र्वाङ्माध्य॑न्दिने॒ सव॑ने मत्स॒दिन्द्रः॑ ॥ (७)
सोमरस के प्रेमी, वज्रधारी, कामनाओं की वर्षा करने वाले, शत्रुओं को पराजित करने वाले, शत्रु पराभवकारी बदल से संपन्न, सभी देवों के स्वामी, वृत्र असुर का विनाश करने वाले एवं नियम से सोमरस का पान करने वाले इंद्र अपने हरि नाम के घोड़ों को रथ में जोड़ कर हमारे यज्ञ में आएं और इस माध्यांदिन यज्ञ में सोमपान कर के प्रसन्न हों. (७)
Indra, the lover of Somras, the one who showers his desires, defeats enemies, is endowed with defeating enemies, the swami of all gods, destroys the vritra asuras and drinks Somras by rules, joins the horses of his Hari name in the chariot and joins our yajna and be happy by performing sompan in the yajna on this medium day. (7)
