अथर्ववेद (कांड 3)
वि दे॒वा ज॒रसा॑वृत॒न्वि त्वम॑ग्ने॒ अरा॑त्या । व्यहं सर्वे॑ण पा॒प्मना॒ वि यक्ष्मे॑ण॒ समायु॑षा ॥ (१)
हे अश्चिनीकुमारो! तुम इस बालक को आयु की हानि करने वाली वृद्धावस्था से दूर रखो. हे अग्नि! तुम इसे दान न देने के स्वभाव से और शत्रुओं से दूर रखो. मैं इसे रोग आदि दुःखों को उत्पन्न करने वाले पापों तथा यक्ष्मा रोग से पृथक् कर के चिर जीवन से संयुक्त करता हूं. (१)
O Ashchini Kumaro! You keep this child away from age-threatening old age. O agni! You keep it away from the nature of not giving donations and from enemies. I combine it with the sins that cause diseases and sorrows and the eternal life separated from tuberculosis. (1)
अथर्ववेद (कांड 3)
व्यार्त्या॒ पव॑मानो॒ वि श॒क्रः पा॑पकृ॒त्यया॑ । व्यहं सर्वे॑ण पा॒प्मना॒ वि यक्ष्मे॑ण॒ समायु॑षा ॥ (२)
वायु इस बालक को रोगजनित पीड़ा से अलग रखे तथा इंद्र पाप के कार्यो से बचाएं. मैं इसे रोग आदि दुःखों को उत्पन्न करने वाले पापों तथा यक्ष्मा रोग से पृथकू कर के चिर जीवन से युक्त करता हूं. (२)
Keep this child away from pathatable pain and save Indra from the actions of sin. I separate it from the sins causing diseases and sorrows and tuberculosis and make it a long life. (2)
अथर्ववेद (कांड 3)
वि ग्रा॒म्याः प॒शव॑ आर॒ण्यैर्व्याप॒स्तृष्ण॑यासरन् । व्यहं सर्वे॑ण पा॒प्मना॒ वि यक्ष्मे॑ण॒ समायु॑षा ॥ (३)
जिस प्रकार गाय, भैंस आदि ग्रामीण पशु वन के पशुओं से तथा जल प्यासे व्यक्तियों से दूर रहता है, उसी प्रकार मैं इस ब्रह्मचारी को रोग आदि दु:ख उत्पन्न करने वाले पापों से तथा यक्ष्मा रोग से दूर कर के चिर जीवन से युक्त करता हूं. (३)
Just as rural animals like cows, buffaloes, etc. stay away from forest animals and water thirsty people, in the same way, I keep this brahmachari away from the sins causing disease etc. and tuberculosis and with eternal life. (3)
अथर्ववेद (कांड 3)
वी॑ मे द्यावा॑पृथि॒वी इ॒तो वि पन्था॑नो॒ दिशं॑दिशम् । व्यहं सर्वे॑ण पा॒प्मना॒ वि यक्ष्मे॑ण॒ समायु॑षा ॥ (४)
जिस प्रकार धरती और आकाश एक दूसरे से अलग रहते हैं तथा एक गांव से प्रत्येक दिशाओं में जाने वाले मार्ग स्वाभाविक रूप से पृथक् होते हैं, उसी प्रकार मैं इस ब्रह्मचारी को रोग आदि दुःखों के उत्पादक पापों तथा यक्ष्मा रोग से पृथक कर के चिर जीवन से युक्त करता हूं. (४)
Just as the earth and the sky are separate from each other and the paths leading in each direction from a village are naturally separated, in the same way, I separate this brahmachari from the productive sins of diseases etc. and tuberculosis and with eternal life. (4)
अथर्ववेद (कांड 3)
त्वष्टा॑ दुहि॒त्रे व॑ह॒तुं यु॑न॒क्तीती॒दं विश्वं॒ भुव॑नं॒ वि या॑ति । व्यहं सर्वे॑ण पा॒प्मना॒ वि यक्ष्मे॑ण॒ समायु॑षा ॥ (५)
त्वष्टा ने अपनी पुत्री के विवाह में जो उपहार दिया था, उसे स्थापित करने के निमित्त धरती और आकाश जिस प्रकार पृथक् हुए थे, उसी प्रकार मैं इस ब्रह्मचारी को रोग आदि दुःखों को उत्पन्न करने वाले पापों तथा क्षय रोग से पृथक कर के दीर्घ जीवन से संयुक्त करता हूं. (५)
Just as the earth and the sky were separated to establish the gifts that Tvashta had given in the marriage of her daughter, in the same way, I combine this celibate with the sins causing diseases and sorrows and tuberculosis and long life. (5)
अथर्ववेद (कांड 3)
अ॒ग्निः प्रा॒णान्त्सं द॑धाति च॒न्द्रः प्रा॒णेन॒ संहि॑तः । व्यहं सर्वे॑ण पा॒प्मना॒ वि यक्ष्मे॑ण॒ समायु॑षा ॥ (६)
जिस प्रकार जठराग्नि चक्षु आदि इंद्रियों को अन्न से बना हुआ रस पहुंचा कर अपनाअपना कार्य करने में समर्थ बनाती है तथा चंद्रमा प्राण वायु से युक्त हो कर अमृत रस से सभी आत्माओं का पोषण करता है, उसी प्रकार मैं इस ब्रह्मचारी को रोग आदि दुःखों के उत्पादक पापों से तथा यक्ष्मा रोग से पृथक् करके दीर्घ जीवन प्रदान करता हूं. (६)
Just as gastritis enables the eyes etc. to do their work by delivering juice made of food to the senses and the moon prana nourishes all souls with nectar juice, in the same way, I give this brahmachari a long life by separating it from the productive sins of diseases etc. and tuberculosis. (6)
अथर्ववेद (कांड 3)
प्रा॒णेन॑ वि॒श्वतो॑वीर्यं दे॒वाः सूर्यं॒ समै॑रयन् । व्यहं सर्वे॑ण पा॒प्मना॒ वि यक्ष्मे॑ण॒ समायु॑षा ॥ (७)
देवों ने सारे विश्व के प्रेरक सूर्य को प्राण के रूप में उत्पन्न किया. मैं ऐसे सूर्य को इस ब्रह्मचारी की आयु वृद्धि के निमित्त इस में स्थापित करता हूं. मैं इस ब्रह्मचारी को रोग आदि दुःखों के उत्पादक पापों से, तथा यक्ष्मा रोग से पृथक् कर के चिर जीवन से युक्त करता हूं. (७)
The gods created the sun, the inspiration of the whole world, as prana. I install such a sun in it for the sake of increasing the life of this celibate. I equip this celibate with the productive sins of diseases, etc., and the eternal life separated from tuberculosis. (7)
अथर्ववेद (कांड 3)
आयु॑ष्मतामायु॒ष्कृतां॑ प्रा॒णेन॑ जीव॒ मा मृ॑थाः । व्यहं सर्वे॑ण पा॒प्मना॒ वि यक्ष्मे॑ण॒ समायु॑षा ॥ (८)
हे ब्रह्मचारी! तू दीर्घ आयु वाले पुरुषों की आयु से दीर्घ आयु प्रदान करने वाले देवों के प्राण से चिरकाल तक जीवन धारण कर तथा मृत्यु को प्राप्त मत हो. मैं तुझे रोग आदि दुःखों के जनक पापों तथा यक्ष्मा रोग से पृथक् कर के चिर जीवन से युक्त करता हूं. (८)
O Brahmachari! You should live forever with the life of the gods who give long life than the life of men with long life and do not attain death. I separate you from the sins and tuberculosis, the cause of diseases, and sufferings, and fill you with eternal life. (8)
