अथर्ववेद (कांड 7)
अ॑जिराधिरा॒जौ श्ये॒नौ सं॑पा॒तिना॑विव । आज्यं॑ पृतन्य॒तो ह॑तां॒ यो नः॒ कश्चा॑भ्यघा॒यति॑ ॥ (३)
अजिर और अधिराज नामक मृत्यु दूत मुझ से संग्राम करने के इच्छुक पुरुष के घृत से पूर्ण होने वाले होम कर्म का उसी प्रकार विनाश करें, जिस प्रकार पक्षियों के ऊपर बाज आकाश मार्ग से गिरता है. जो शत्रु हमारे विपरीत हिंसा कर्म करने की इच्छा करता है, उस का आज्य नष्ट हो जाए. (३)
Let the death angels named Ajir and Adhiraj destroy the burnt deeds of a man willing to fight with me in the same way as the eagle falls on the birds from the sky path. The enemy who wishes to do violence against us, his life should be destroyed. (3)
