हम ने ऐसा सुना है कि लाल रंग की गंडमालाओं को उत्पन्न करने वाली कृष्णा नाम की राक्षसी है. इस प्रकार की बढ़ी हुई सभी गंडमालाओं को मैं द्योतमान अथर्वा ऋषि के द्वारा बताए हुए बाण से विदीर्ण करता हूं. (१)

दोष की दृष्टि से गंडमालाएं तीन प्रकार की हैं. उन्हीं का यहां वर्णन है. मैं इन पकी हुई गंडमालाओं में से मुख्य गंडमाला को जानता हूं, जिस की चिकित्सा करना कठिन है. मैं बाण से उसे फाड़ता हूं. दूसरे प्रकार की सुसाध्य अर्थात् सरलता से चिकित्सा के योग्य गंडमाला मध्यमा है. मैं उसे भी फोड़ता हूं. इस समय मैं इन गंडमालाओं के मध्य उस को ऊन के धागे के समान तोड़ता हूं, जिस की चिकित्सा थोड़े प्रयत्न से हो सकती है. त्वा॒ष्ट्रेणा॒हं वच॑सा॒ वि त॑ ई॒र्ष्याम॑मीमदम् । अथो॒ यो म॒न्युष्टे॑ पते॒ तमु॑ ते शमयामसि ॥ (३)
हे इ्ष्यायुक्त पुरुष! स्त्री के विषय में तेरा जो क्रोध है, उसे मैं त्वष्टा संबंधी मंत्र से दूर करता हूं. हे इस के पति! तेरा जो क्रोध है उसे भी मैं शांत करता हूं. (३)
This man! I remove your anger about the woman with a tvashta mantra. O husband of this! I also calm your anger. (3)
हे व्रत के पालन कर्ता अग्नि! दर्श, पौर्णमास आदि यज्ञकर्मो द्वारा सम्मानित तुम सभी दिनों में प्रसन्न मन वाले हो कर हमारे घर में दीप्त बनो. हे जातवेद अग्नि! भलीभांति दीप्त तुम्हारे चारों और हम पुत्र, पौत्र आदि के साथ बैठें. (४)
O agni that observes the fast! Honored by yajnakarmos like Darshan, Pournamas etc., you should be happy in all the days and become immersed in our house. O jataved agni! Sit around you with our sons, grandsons, etc. (4)
